I saw the specs of the new Mac Pro and they are more impressive then the previous model, 4K via HDMI doesn't get any better. So if I could I'd rather get the new one.

I was reading yesterday that some of the Late 2014 Minis are actually going to be considerably slower than 2012 models.

The model he's getting is the 2014 1.4 GHZ at the very bottom, which it turns out is the worst performing Mini Apple has made in the last 2 years:

Again, this is a terrible investment. I assume Joe is just self-sabotaging again.
 
Do what ever you want Joe. I'm just offering reasonably priced options.

Given the resources of 963 Productions, I think the best solution overall would be too convert the pc to a Linux box and use open source programs to function while saving for better hardware later. However, Like when Joe insisted on an HD camera to make "Ziggy the Maniac", he insists that his creations demand only the finest tools.

Given that Linux has a substantial learning curve (as does any unfamiliar OS) and Joe doesn't like to learn how things actually work, the Mac probably is his best bet. He loves to have expensive new toys... Nothing wrong with that, but it's unrealistic to expect other people to foot the bill.

Last month, I wasn't planning on buying a Mac mini, it's really an unforeseen expense because my FireWire was working just fine without any flaws. When you have multiple usb HDDs not work on your system, you know things are bad, when another function stops working it's time for new equipment.

No, it's time to diagnose the actual problem and come to a conclusion with your findings. That's basic troubleshooting.
 
Wow so this thread is still going on.

Joe do you have a plan to become less boring? You produce media so you must consider yourself some sort of performer. Boring performers don't do well, chop chop.

Tell us EVERYTHING you've done to troubleshoot your computer system.
Additionally, how old are your external hard drives, how many times have you dropped them has the computer itself been dropped, do you have furry pets and if so have you opened the computer and blown out all the dust and animal hair?
Oh and for the love of God clean off and organize your desk! Untangle all those cables. I don't see how you can get anything done over there.

You do realize that a problem like that can be many things, yes? And sometimes it would be a very, very easy fix?

1. The computer has never been dropped.

2. For those USB HDDs I had to return I did troubleshooting atleast 10 times on each one of them and had the system check the Internet for drivers. Didn't work.

3. Downloaded my clean PC, ran it. It only got rid of all the viruses and malware on my system. Nothing for those USB HDDS or my FireWire.

4. All my external USB storage currently in use is that is working is less then a year old, not including those 160GB or less.

5. My cat was put to sleep around the same time Ziggy season 2 rapped filming.

6. I've been working around wires for 10 years in my office corner. The PC still has use but capturing HD video is no longer one of them.
 
My clean pc? Yikes

But again... What is the actual problem with your pc? What is causing the behavior that you describe? What component is failing?

You just confirmed that you did no troubleshooting.

If Windows tried to download drivers, then it saw the HDD. Most likely you just needed to assign a drive letter to the new drive.

You want people to invest in your projects, but all your posts everywhere you go just scream "I don't know what the hell I'm doing!" in bold underlined 72pt CAPS. The fact that you fell for My Clean PC cements it. I bet you don't even do proper backups and you'll lose everything if you tried to wipe your PC to see if that might resolve the problem.

You may very well be able to work in that messy birds nest of a corner, but to potential investors it looks very unprofessional. At least to me it looks like a place where a greasy neckbeard plays video games all day and spanks it to cartoons all night.

Best of luck with all that you do though. You're going to need it.
