Culture Joe Rogan debuts on Spotify with his most controversial episodes missing - Joe Rogan made his debut on Spotify on Tuesday, but apparently not all of his podcast episodes made the cut.

Several past episodes with controversial guests are notably absent from the new Joe Rogan Experience channel, including interviews with conspiracy theorists Alex Jones and David Seaman, right-wing figures such as Owen Benjamin, Milo Yiannopoulos, Gavin McInnes, Charles C. Johnson and Sargon of Akkad, and comedian Chris D'Elia, who has recently been accused of sexual impropriety. A few of the vanished guests were more perplexing, such as pot activist Tommy Chong.

Rogan's fans wondered online whether Spotify refused to allow certain episodes, or if Rogan himself decided to trim the archive of his most frequently criticized content, or if this was some sort of oddly specific temporary oversight. A representative for Spotify and Rogan did not return a request for comment, and Rogan's Twitter feed was silent on the matter.

Mikhaila Peterson, daughter of the controversial professor and public speaker Jordan Peterson, slammed the move:
Spotify reportedly paid more than $100 million to lure the country's most popular podcaster exclusively to the streaming service. The Spotify-based shows launched with a marathon five-hour interview with comedian Duncan Trussell, but the missing episodes were not addressed. Rogan's shows are still currently available on YouTube and podcasting platforms like iTunes, but the plan is for JRE to move exclusively to Spotify by the end of the year. The partnership was considered a massive win for Spotify, which has seen its stock nearly double since the deal was announced in May.

Rogan's podcast includes more than 1,500 episodes of long-form interviews with comedians, actors, sports figures, authors, intellectuals, and political commentators. The comedian and MMA commentator has long prided himself on talking to people from across the political spectrum and has frequently railed against "de-platforming" – tech companies that remove controversial voices.

“They want me to just continue doing it the way I’m doing it right now,” Rogan has previously said of the Spotify deal. “It’s just a licensing deal, so Spotify won’t have any creative control over the show. It will be the exact same show. We’re going to be working with the same crew doing the exact same show."

In a profile of Rogan in The Atlantic last August, writer Devin Gordon broke down Rogan's many strengths as a podcaster, yet also cited some of his guest choices as a serious blindspot: "Joe likes [Jack Dorsey]. He likes Milo Yiannopoulos. He likes Alex Jones. He wants you to know that he doesn’t agree with much of what they say, but he also wants you to know that off camera they’re the nicest guys. If we all have fatal flaws, this is Joe’s: his insistence on seeing value in people even when he shouldn’t, even when they’ve forfeited any right to it, even when the harm outweighs the good. It comes from a generous place, but it amounts to careless cruelty. He just won’t write people off, and then he compounds the sin by throwing them a lifeline at the moment when they least deserve it."

Now it seems in Rogan's move to Spotify that a handful of his most radioactive guests may have at last been written off – or, at least, off his new platform.

Full list

Personally I'm just shocked that the Colion Noir episode wasn't cut. The left fears nothing more than a proud black man (not ADOS) being paid megabucks to shill for the NRA.

So he moved from California to Texas to avoid the censorship of Silicon Valley, and then a Silicon Valley paid him to censor all of his episodes that don't share Silicon Valley's political ideology? OK cuck. I guess all the DMT, ayahuasca, saunas, and isolation tanks broke his brain.

Nah, I'd say this is Spotify actively fucking with him since they're still owned by Silicon Valley and Rogan is probably staying mum on the issue for legal reasons.

There are only two issues where Joe Rogan has anything close to resmbling principles on, and that's legalized weed and free speech. Especially the former. I could see Rogan also pulling one of those Coca-Cola Classic grifts where he agrees to the Spotify removals at first to avoid hassle and then after they're off YouTube, negotiates to get most of them back and rebrand them as new content.

The only ones I can say would truly be permanently gone would be Molyneux, Owen Benjamin, and War Machine for very obvious reasons. Probably Gavin McInnes too since there's this big vendetta against the Proud Boys to where you can't even be neutral when mentioning them on social media, let alone positive.

Alex Jones is probably going to be perma-banned since he was the first high-profile case of the Silicon Valley unpersoning but then again, he's probably irrelevant enough that they could get his episode on with a disclaimer.

Some of the "controversial" guests being pulled make sense:

-Molyneux: deplatformed everywhere, absolutely hates Rogan and tried to get him "cancelled"
-Benjamin: Same
-Milo: Said old men fucking 16yo boys was good for the boys
-McIness: Tainted by the Proud Boys stuff
-Sargon: Is a white nigga
-War Machine: Currently serving a life sentence for multiple counts of rape/assault/battery
-Delia/Callen/Diaz: All MeToo'd
-Alex Jones : Is Alex Jones

But Louis Theroux? Rickson Gracie? Jordan Peterson's thot daughter? Brian Redban? How are any of those controversial? And for what it's worth Alex Jones is claiming that he talked to Rogan and will be back on the podcast, which might explain why Rogan was praising him in the new episode.

But then again Jones is also claiming that Rogan's "100 favorite episodes" are being left on youtube until the end of the year and that's why they weren't brought over, which is obviously bullshit. So who knows.

The only ones that make sense are Molyneux, Benjamin, War Machine, maybe Milo and Gavin too for all the reasons you mentioned.

Sargon is a tool but he also spectacularly crashed and burned and mellowed out a little bit once he became a total joke even among the alt-lite. If enough backlash against MeToo builds up to where it gets viewed in the same light as the "repressed memories" allegations from the Satanic Panic, then some of the MeToo'd guests who never got criminally charged could be restored with a disclaimer.

To be honest, I think they specifically want to keep Alex Jones off since he was arguably Patient Zero of the big Silicon Valley "unpersoning" techniques and they will go above and beyond to make sure his consequences stick specifically.

If a guy like Alex Jones ever ended up getting "uncancelled", it would knock the wind out of the sails for the Woke Left and probably blackpill them. Me Too nearly got killed by Tara Reade accusing Joe Biden but Corona more or less saved it by covering up the story.

Spotify Employees Are Now Allegedly Planning A Full Blown Strike If The Company Refuses To Censor Joe Rogan's Content

Source - A contingent of activist Spotify staffers are now considering a walkout or full-blown strike if their demands for direct editorial oversight of The Joe Rogan Experiencepodcast aren’t met.

Late last week, we first reported that Spotify employees were demanding direct editorial oversight over the recently-acquired Joe Rogan Experience podcast. That would include the ability to directly edit or remove sections of upcoming interviews, or block the uploading of episodes deemed problematic. The employees also demanded the ability to add trigger warnings, corrections, and references to fact-checked articles on topics discussed by Rogan in the course of his multi-hour discussions.

Some of the group’s demands have already been met by Spotify management, though a refusal to allow further changes is stirring talk of a high-profile walkout or strike. According to preliminary plans shared with Digital Music News, the strike would principally involve New York-based Spotify employees, and would be accompanied by protests outside Spotify’s Manhattan headquarters. Other aspects would involve media appearances and coordination with other activist organizations.

And on and on we go….It's going to be tough for me to articulate my thoughts on this without sounding crass but I will say this- what a bunch of losers. Seriously. What a bunch of nearsighted, whiney, buffoons. I just can't understand how any Spotify employee, all of whom stand to benefit over Joe Rogan's hire, would get upset over this. Upset to the point where they want to go on strike. And for what? A lack of trigger warnings? A desire for more fact checks? Editorial oversight?!?! Give me a break. It's called freedom of speech, babe. The same way that Rogan is allowed to say what he wants, you're allowed to turn off your computer and stop listening. That's the beauty of America. Also, let's not forget that Joe is a comedian. He's there to entertain, not report the news. I'm fully aware of his influence, but it's important not to lose sight of that.

That said, I do believe that Joe has a responsibility not to spread misinformation. Given the size of his audience and today's political climate, he should be very careful not to stoke the flames of either side of the aisle. As long as he isn't spreading blatant lies or spewing rhetoric that directly or indirectly harm human beings, he should be able to do exactly what he has been doing. Which is conduct fascinating interviews for the masses to enjoy.

Chief wrote about the initial backlash amongst Spotify employees earlier this week, but here's some more info for those of you who didn't get a chance to read…
During the transition of Rogan’s podcast episodes onto the Spotify platform, multiple past episodes were omitted. Those included interviews with Milo Yiannopoulos, Gavin McInnes, and Alex Jones. Additionally, Rogan issued a rare public apology and correction over his claim that left-wing anarchists had set fires in Oregon, a point that was made during a recent interview with Douglas Murray. The apology is now believed to be the result of pressure from Spotify staffers.
But those measures apparently don’t go far enough. Rogan’s claim during the Murray podcast is still part of the podcast recording, despite demands that the offending section be removed or directly corrected within the audio itself. It now appears that Spotify is unwilling to directly edit or otherwise alter any existing episodes, with content alteration considered a bright line that shouldn’t be crossed.
Ultimately, Spotify decided to keep the episode intact after judging that none of the platform’s content guidelines were broken. That decision has apparently been viewed as a serious affront by the protesting employees, a group that is now discussing the high-profile strike or walkout as a next move.
By the way, Spotify employees reportedly earn on average anywhere from $120 - $130,000 per year with "considerable perks and benefits." Those are the people who are going on strike. During a pandemic. Because they didn't like what someone who is going to bring in a shit ton of money for their company said. Must be nice. Champagne problems if you ask me. Have a great weekend everyone.

Oh well the only two podcasts worth listening to are Last Podcast on the left and Something to Wrestle anyway.

The best podcasts are those that avoid current events entirely. Choose something that focuses on history or some other niche interest, in which the podcasters aren't obligated to pontificate on whether Orange Man is good or bad.

No Agenda exists, tho.

Yes, go ahead and get the company you work for sued for breaching a $100 million contract. Estrogen and estradiol pills aren't cheap without insurance.

Anyway to get legit pictures of what these Spotify employees look like as I am now interested.

I'm not able to find it, but I'm guessing they look like the freakshow that Microsoft put on a couple years ago for pride month.

I've uploaded one earlier, it's from a diversity propaganda video made by Spotify for pride month. I can't find the video anymore.

Who Are These Podcasts can be good at times. The episode with Jeremy Banfield (or whatever his name is) was pretty great.

Joe Rogan's podcast always struck me as very hit-or-miss depending on the guest, since Rogan's very much a sounding board rather than a leading interrogative type of interviewer.

This has reportedly gone all the way to the top, though Spotify CEO Daniel Ek appears to be pushing back. From a business standpoint, the reason is fairly obvious: Rogan’s audience likes his direct, unedited style, and could quickly abandon the comedian-podcaster if he’s edited.

It sounds like a handful of whiny dickheads who will be easily replaced...

Assuming that Daniel Ek is pushing back, it's quite possible that some of these more fragile staff members may be cancelled by Spotify. Maybe I'm overly optimistic.

Fair play to Rogan for giving a platform to folks from almost every part of the ideological spectrum, where ideas can be put out there without being judged or editorialised. That's an unironically stunning and brave thing to do in current year.

Fuck, now I might have to cancel my Spotify membership and pirate all my fucking music. I don't have time for that but I can't stand cucked corporations. Is nothing sacred?

Soulseek is looking mighty good right now.

Why did he stop doing it live

They are/were terrified of accidentally playing copyrighted audio and getting the channel taken down. At least that was their official story.

Sorry for the Facebook link but there was this incident last year, after they switched to pre-recorded eps, where Eddie Bravo starts talking about the CIA and Joe awkwardly cuts him off saying he has to pee and then there's a clear cut where they took something out.

Thanks its interesting how nobody thought trump would win I keep thinking about metokur saying that trumping does prove the system isnt rigged.

I ve mulled it over and I think joe doesnt really owe people anything. But big tech leaning on him for being popular or talking to people who say things they dont like is weird.

If anything joe should have the spotify employee s and ceo on his show to hash it out.
