Oh yeah, the base arrests reminds me of how 30 germans were arrested for planning to attack a refugee camp in saxony back in I think 2016 and how a teenager in England (specifically Durham) got arrested for trying to start up a "geurilla movement" and planned to get chemicals to make bombs. however he got busted after he posed for a photo with tommy Robinson on his twitter and found his diary outlining his terrorist plans. HEs the youngest person ever in the UK to Be charged with terrorism offences

Letting him out at all means at least they think this guy is probably not really an imminent danger of committing some terrorist attack. I still think they're pretty fucked but the majority of what they did was LARPing. The problem is once you start on the concrete plans aimed at specific targets, whether you've been egged on by the feds or not, they're going to take that very seriously. Even if they know you're not a "real" threat. They did enough here that they actually broke the law in pretty serious ways.

They're probably going to try some entrapment defense, or at least a mitigation defense based on entrapment, but when you're already on record as making all kinds of inflammatory statements and openly endorsing acts of terrorism, you're not going to be able to demonstrate that you were not the kind of person who'd do something like this and had to be entrapped.

I had seen a mega floating around of that before and again recently. I don't know where it originates from. Ironmarch had their own archive here https://archive.md/tFXLF so I don't think it was some official one.

The point is that individual actors are unpredictable even though incidents may occur with predictable statistic frequency. Look at the ecoterrorist movement and how they operate. There's a reason they were the biggest domestic threat according to the FBI for a while. Leaderless resistance, propaganda of the deed, clandestine cell systems, ect. Terms like this should ideally be familiar to you.

Fair point, but even ISIS varies their methods with dealing with the West. They promote lone wolf attackers to do acts in the name of ISIS and claim credit for it for example. That's a lot closer to how stuff like the earth liberation front operated. I have seen stuff like The Management of Savagery promoted so there is some ideological inspiration too.

I think the main appeal is the tearing down of modern society and rebuilding it in their own image or ideal. The endpoints are similar without the actual religion side of things. Various people within National Action were lauding the Khmer Rouge a few years ago in interviews.
