Puppet master no longer? It seems like mister McIntosh may have been let go from Feminist Frequency. He's both absent from the staff listing on the annual report they put out, and has removed any mention of working on Tropes vs Women in Video Games from his twitter bio.

They may just not be listing him. It wouldn't surprise me if he knows about how he's considered Anita's puppet master and is trying to create some space between him and his cash cow in order to keep the money flowing. Could also be he's looking to drop Anita and head to greener pastures.

I don't have a shred of evidence to back up either claim I'll admit, but considering the type of person he is, I don't think either claim is too far-fetched.

If it were just one of the two things, I'd be more inclined to believe that. With both, however, it seems like he's at least distancing himself from Feminist Frequency, the only question being if it was by his own choice to make himself seem less involved and like a puppet master, or if he's been removed from the organization and required to distance himself from them. Either way, time will tell.

Yeah pretty sure that wasn't "casual" homophobia that killed 50+ people.

Regarding his split from FF. My guess is that he was the one cracking the whip to finish the videos on some sort of a deadline, knowing that the future of the FF brand depended on them actually finishing their first kickstarter within 3 years of the promised due date. This is because after the split Anita complained that the Tropes vs Women series was taking forever, it was such a pain to get out of bed and work on it, and that's why they were cutting the remaining videos down to half length

It's also probably why they diverted to the new series about "unexamined" female icons in history, as that will probably be recycles of Anita's college papers. It was kind of her thing in college, McIntosh was more obsessed with how violence in the media reinforced gun/conservative/machoism culture.

This was because for his adult life he always considered Americans to be gullible idiots that were brainwashed by the media/corporate branding. He described being raised as a religious conservative before one day waking up to the baloney he had been fed by his parents. Being a former sheep, he assumed everyone else is as gullible and set out on a quest to awaken everyone. Reading over his old website, he was a self-described "culture jammer" that went around trying to "subvert" the media's messaging. And by "culture jamming" he means "remixing Bush speeches with System of the Down and Iraqi war footage" and vandalizing billboards. WAKE UP SHEEPLE

His recommended readings are "No Logo" and "Culture Jamming", which I've been required to read multiple times in college. They're fantastic books, in the sense that they provide great fodder if you want to write some caricatured liberal villains. The author of Culture Jamming describes his first "great awakening", and his first act of real civil disobedience against the corporate machine: he was working as a shopping cart pusher until he got fed up and started jamming coins into the cart dispenser. You get the theme here?

With the coin slot clogged, mindless consumers would shuffle to get a cart and find it broken and be FORCED to THINK about the degree in which they depended on their supermarket overlords. From there it goes onto promoting everything short of terrorism, including vandalism, civil disobedience, and "street reclamation"- which is what it sounds like. Reclaiming public streets without warning in order to run a flea market or something, to make them truly "public spaces" again. This is described with a straight face as something to build public support and NOT piss off everyone in the traffic jam. Their angry honking is just their corporate employers pulling the strings.

The lyrics have changed with the decades but McIntosh is singing the same drat tune. But there's no neoconservative government to shake one's fist at anymore, so it's video games.
