VGH is only letting one person at a time in but most of the clinics are allowing a support person. That includes mitochondrial disease. A lot of the people who attend these clinics are very ill/elderly and need their child or caregiver to assist, take notes, all the things you do for your elderly and slightly dotty relative. Plus, unless they needed to do a physical exam, the appointment was probably virtual or telephone.

ERs are generally one person only, but VGH will let you stay if you or the patient make a big enough scene. I suspect Ms. Yaniv is quite capable of making a scene.

She's not going to find anyone private in BC to do something highly specialized like mitochondrial disease.

The medical services act forbids charging a covered person for a service that's available on the provincial medical services plan. Unlike the UK, Canada is not a two-tier system. There are people who will ignore that but only for very consumer-oriented services. You might be able to find a private derm, for example. But not a hospital-based specialist like mitochondrial disease. All those guys work for the government.

The reason we don't have enough is that your only option is to work for the government. The government pays at its own set rate and even limits how many patients you can charge for in a day/period. Let's say you're an OB. You're allowed to deliver babies for 12 hours a day. If you try to deliver a baby on hour 13, you're doing it for free. That kind of thing. If you're a GP, you can see only X patients per day.

ETA: When I say "work for the government" I mean single payer; You still get to open and be responsible for your own office.

So, is it common for troons post op to have wound care specialists? They used to be called "stoma nurses" and used to mainly deal with ostomy patients ("ostomates") but their scope of practice has changed over the years

Like all socialized health care, the government pays all the doctors, nurses, lab techs, specialists, etc. It pays fixed (and rather low) rates with all sorts of limits and restrictions. This is supposedly done to "cut costs," but the real effect is there are never nearly enough people willing to practice medicine for such low pay and under obnoxious restrictions and conditions. So you're left with the dregs who are willing to work for less (and that doesn't attract "quality") and there aren't enough of those to provide adequate, timely service to patients anyway.

End result: you spend months (or years) on waiting lists to get in just to see a regular GP, much less a specialist. God help you if you need non-emergency surgery that can "technically" wait awhile.

This is why people who can afford it engage in "medical tourism" to travel to countries where there's less of a wait and there are competent doctors and staff. That way they can get urgently-needed surgeries done (tranny chops don't count as "urgent" to me, but they do this too) without waiting five goddamn years waiting for an appointment as they watch the tumor grow its own face.

It's hilarious that Johnny himself has tried to keep his own records private for quite a time, then proceed to unintentionally release his records to the public by just filing a laughable lawsuit to the same docs and clinics that he relies on. Good ol' dumb tranny, never change John. He's just too dumb to realize that, then after the whole accident, he just skip it anyway and do more dumb shit after that.

While cost-cutting is nice with the limitations, but it doesn't help eitherway to keep up with the newer or previous patients. Health care are important, and with the limitation, the treatments may sometimes feel limited, poor and restricted, and patients must learn on how to accept their treatment regard of quality, bad or not. John didn't do all of these, instead he asks for treatments, then months later, he attacks them for an unknown reason, unlike other patients that aren't dumb as John that accepts the treatment they receive and never attack the docs, nurses, etc. that they talked to, especially with the current year health care's limitation. If John would ever try to ask any treatments from the same doctors, he'll just get denied for doing dumb shit to them.
