Not everyone has the time or money to fight malicious litigants. Predators like yaniv target vulnerable people who don't usually have the resources to fight for easy wins. Ask any lawyer and they'll tell you settling is the usually the fastest and cheapest way to handle the case.

The real enemy here is the Cuckada tribunal who allowed the publication ban in the first place so these salons couldn't form a united front against yaniv's clearly malicious intent.

It would appear that mobility scooters are not motor vehicles in Canada and someone on one is treated as a pedestrian (use sidewalks, crosswalks, etc). There would certainly be no law against someone with epilepsy using one. They are meant to be used by people with disabilities.

If someone knew himself to be a danger and rode one anyway, I suspect civil penalties might result were he to injure someone else. But on the list of ways Jonathan might hurt someone, having an actual seizure and running someone down with his scooter is perhaps one of the least likely but most entertaining options.

So basically, Jon, in the span of two days, not only lied under oath, but also lied over his previous lies regarding his medical history claim and the history of his gender identity. Can this guy not lie for at ten minutes?

@Big moth tiddies already gave an appropriate response to this, so I'm sorry if I'm belaboring the point, but I had to rate your post "dislike" because you're absolutely not wrong about it encouraging this kind of behaviour, but you also clearly have no idea what it's like to be a small business owner.

I am the kind of person that will do things completely contrary to my own interest out of stubborn principles, but when you're already working 80 hour weeks and making less than minimum wage for yourself (if not actively losing money), which is the position a lot of small business owners are in, it's rather unattractive--if not completely out of the question--to spend thousands of dollars on legal fees instead of settling for a fraction of the cost, even if the claim against you is complete bullshit.

As dumb as Yaniv is, he's at least astute enough to be absolutely aware of this, which is why he's running this scam and pressing for mediation and settlements constantly.

The problem here isn't with small business owners reluctantly caving in the face of this shitty situation; it's with the legal system that creates this dilemma for them in the first place. The only thing I'd add to what BMT wrote is that unlike many other features of the BCHRT that have been discussed, this isn't a problem unique to it. It's also an issue with respect to BS employment law claims from disgruntled employees, BS tort claims from people exactly like Yaniv, etc. Fighting costs money even when you're in the right, and the Yanivs of the world tend to be broke so you aren't going to be able to enforce a judgement against them in a real court if you win, either.
