Well some things do fit with some personality disorders and some fit right into mental illness. It is entirely to have multiple of these disorders and mental illnesses at the same time, thats why it's so hard to treat. Hard to know if your dealing with the signs/symtoms of a personality disorder if 70% or more of those are shared with a mental illness.

They are the differences between 'Okay, we can medicate and start therapy, lets see how you respond in 3 months,' and 'Okay, here's a list of psychologists, therapists, and mental health workers. Let's get you a decade long therapy that only works if you actively want to be better. Hope you find someone who is willing to put up with your shit for 10 years.'
