Is he a Christian convert? I know he's Persian.
My understanding is that he's cradle. IIRC, the general area of Persia would be in the canonical territory of Antioch. Problem is, Church politics/dogmatics has led to at least three claimants to being the Patriarch of Antioch.

If I'm correct about him being Eastern Orthodox, that would put him likely in the Antiochian Orthodox Church of America under Patriarch John X, but he could be in any of the other Orthodox jurisdictions holding common communion. That said, the Church design has the distinctive large dome shape of many Antiochian Churches.

What's a cradle? Like cradle of civilization (iraq Babylon area?) I'm not Christian but what's their "deal" are they similar to eastern/russian Orthodox or do they do something different?

'Cradle' is generally the word used as the antithesis of 'convert' -- i.e. he was born into the faith. This is somewhat significant for the more 'traditional' forms of Christianity like Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy because joining them takes months to years; not as simple as saying some prayer at the altar.

As previously mentioned, there's some competition in the Antiochian world. The two big players are in effect split between the Eastern Orthodox (this includes Russian Orthodoxy -- no central Pope figure, but multiple regional Churches in common faith) and Roman Catholics (churches united around the Pope). I think JonTron is part of the Eastern Orthodox group, but that's just a fuzzy recollection from a post I recall seeing on Twitter many years ago.

Memes aside, this is an apt observation. E-celebs that have reached their peak and are on the decline (or realize that their style of entertainment will not be viable anymore due to big tech censorhip) can be divided into two categories (technically three, but I'll get to that). Ones that can feel the change in the wind and act accordingly, either bringing their e-career to a close completely and moving on past their e-persona, or putting it on the back burner to focus on their personal life and other endeavors. Then there's those that refuse to change and double down, or try to branch out into a differnet niche/genre of entertainment but don't have the talent and charisma to keep their audience, of which there are unfortunately many (though it is fortunate for us, for it gives us a plethora of lolcows to mock).

The third category are an offshot of the latter category above, those who actually possess the talent to switch into a different niche while remaining an e-celeb, and have a dedicated fanbase that were there for them more than for the type of entertainment they provided. Jon technically falls into this category as well, since post game grumps and destiny debate shitshow, he's shifted his channel's focus towards a kind of free-for-all, making videos he wants to instead of what he thinks his audience will like, and since his audience is there for him instead of the specific type of content they eat it up.
