Usually when stupid tourists do stupid shit, they just hold them for a while and give them a rough time, then throw them out of the country and bar them from reentry. Johnny Somali was worse and didn't even have the tard card to play.
The thing about Japan is they don't really need to release you in a certain amount of time. They can interrogate you pretty much as long as they feel like it. They do have to go to a judge after 72 hours, can then get 10 days more, and ask for it again, so effectively it's 23 days before they have to try to indict you in most cases.
If they actually do indict you, you're getting convicted. Their conviction rate is over 99%.
If he successfully plays the tard card and the Japanese don't tell the consul to fuck off, they'll let him out in a couple days, then throw him out of the country. If he doesn't they'll probably do the Johnny Somali thing of just holding him the full time they can and then chuck him.
That Legal Mindset loltuber seems to like these "dumb Americans arrested in Asian countries" cases so he'll probably be doing a video on it.

Japanese cops don't play. They won't outright waterboard you, or anything like that, but they will break you psychologically nonetheless.
Japan also has more cops than lawyers. The opposite of America.

I usually am for foreigners getting the law handed to them in Japan, which is very strict, but Josh is special ED and is taunted by retards constantly. I am not saying he should be let go or anything but I fear the Japanese police won't care and will fuck with him more

Japanese jails are also notoriously hellish and break people quickly.
In 2021, there was an American who had a friend from the States send a package of marijuana products to him in Japan. The package got caught at customs, and the police were waiting outside the guy's hotel to snatch him up. He faced something like a decade in prison for drug smuggling. He spent a few months in Japanese jail before his trial and lost around 20lbs from the food. He was mentally and emotionally broken, without a doubt. They didn't sentence him to prison but convicted and banned him from going back to Japan. They don't mess around and will make examples of foreigners if they really want to.
