I don't exactly recognize his accent in videos like Fres, but according to his DeviantArt page he is 20 years old and from the Philippines.

Unrelated, but I have a copy of an old demo of the game Jotex may have deleted, and an archive of the old trailer before it was removed. I'm likely going to reupload the stuff if the old demo doesn't turn out to have a virus on it like the current one.

He's not Japanese that's for sure but definitely a weeb of sorts who probably resorted to Google translate to come up with that bit.

I haven't mentioned it yet but the characters after Jotex make little sense. The first part, チャンネル, is written in katakana which is what the Japanese use for foreign words. In this case it spells "Chyanneru" which I assume would be "Channel" in English most specifically a television channel. A Japanese person would have avoided the "ン" as it's superfluous. Now I'm not sure if there's an actual word for channel in Japanese which might explain why it's an English loan word. But then this kinda falls apart at the next bit as "駅" means "station". Not a television station, but a train station.

Little update on the trailer thing. While searching the name of the old video to see if it really needed a reupload, I did find one of Jotex's alternate channels, being used to like his own videos.
As for the demo, scanning the file in Malwarebytes shows nothing, and Virustotal only indicates adware present in one antivirus' testing.

Regarding the people comparing Jotex to vaporwave, I find irony in the fact that he adds in the gratuitous Japanese seen in most vaporwave tracks while also speeding up tracks like he's trying to make nightcore.
Also decided to make some vaporwave art out of this for some reason.

Strange. Either it was a false positive or something else infected my computer at the time and this was a unfortunate coincidence. But still, no sooner did I start to play it, Bitdefender detected the adaware and other junk and had it quarantined before I deleted it. Still, it's good to know there was some form of malware on the file.
