Businessman Dale Vince is to stop funding Just Stop Oil, saying further protests from the activist group would be "counterproductive".
Mr Vince, a major Labour donor, said further action was "pointless" because the government had shown it would drill for oil "come what may".
Further disruption, he added, would help "feed the Tories' culture-war narrative".
Instead, he said, he would divert funding to the anti-Conservative vote.

Writing for the Guardian, he wrote: "In order to 'just stop oil', first we need to just stop the Tories," adding that he wanted to dedicate his "time, energy and funding" towards increasing the youth vote.
"A vote for anyone other than Labour, or no vote at all, is a vote for another Tory government - this time with a mandate to pursue its anti-green crusade".

Mr Vince said he had supported Just Stop Oil since its foundation in February 2022, and given the group £340,000 to help its campaign against oil drilling in the North Sea.
He said he had always defended the group's tactics, which have included blocking major roads, as well as disrupting high-profile events including Premier League football games and Test cricket at Lord's.
But he added that the government - which granted 100 new North Sea oil and gas licences over the summer - had "made clear that no amount of protest will sway it".
"Our government is not only unmoved by these protests; it believes it has struck electoral gold," he added.
Mr Vince's green energy company Ecotricity has donated more than £1.4m to Labour since 2014, comprising donations to the party itself as well as leader Sir Keir Starmer and deputy leader Angela Rayner.
The company also donated £70,000 to the Liberal Democrats in 2015/16, and £30,000 to the Green Party in 2013.

You're quoting from an article that is a year old. Tories are out, Labour is in and Stamer has stopped new oil drilling schemes in the UK in favour of importing it thousands of miles from countries that have zero concerns about clean extraction.

Just Stop Oil was one of the most obvious fed funded groups out there. Nothing about them had anything appear organic or grassroots about them. It's kinda like how people stopped caring about Greta so she had to ditch the eco grift and go all in on supporting the Muhamedeen's to get back in the spotlight. If we want people to stop doing shit like this we need mainstream media to stop covering them and instead just have social media covering it so we can call them racial slurs and laugh at them because most media groups don't have the balls to call these people for what they are.

You're not wrong, but wanting the msm to stop covering coonery and buffoonery is a pipe dream; giving air time to the "controversial new social activist group" of the month gets viewers, assuming the network wasn't already bought off by the same glowie cabal the coonery and buffoonery is being bankrolled by.
 
They're not going to stop. Give it a few weeks and there'll be another group with suspiciously similar branding, protesting about some new things that pushes ever further into madness. Maybe they'll revive "insulate Britain", though it's likely they'll go for something about cars instead.

How many people are willing to risk 4+ years in prison? I mean, I hope you're right, but I don't think getting all their hardcores locked up for throwing soup, really advances their goals.

Four Just Stop Oil protesters who were planning to glue themselves to the taxiway at Manchester Airport have been jailed.

Officers arrested Indigo Rumbelow, Margaret Reid, Leanorah Ward and Daniel Knorr as they were making their way to the airport on 4 August 2024.

They were equipped with heavy-duty bolt-cutters, angle grinders, glue, sand, Just Stop Oil high-visibility vests and a leaflet containing instructions to follow when interacting with police.

All four were found guilty of conspiracy to intentionally cause a public nuisance and jailed at Manchester Minshull Crown Court for between 18 and 30 months. Additionally, they were each fined £2,000.

That translates as 'by any means'.

I could not be a security guard of any art museum where these wastes of space go and vandalize. The instant they'd splash their paint somewhere I'd just put five or six bullets in 'em and then get sentenced to life in prison for "murder" (IMO, its a justified killing, just like pedophiles)

They usually throw oil paint or anything else oily on the paintings. If the painting is made of oil paint and wasn't shielded, the removal of the slop will permanently damage the painting because cleaning would require oil-solvents which would strip off some of the original paint or dissolve it. Think of paint strippers.
