This reminds me of someone on tumblr who claimed that Internet Personality Sargon of Akkad was racist on the basis of IRL Sargon of Akkad being black. So, a white guy claiming the name of a black guy, and contributing to the erasure of black people in history.

Maybe it's just me but this Twitter account sounds funny. Whenever I come across a black nationalists/afrocentric online they're more confrontational and see themselves as gods among men. As such this Twitter account sounds like it's by a white or Jewish academic glorifying an afrocentic history/black nationalism.

Probably because extreme black nationalism is still associated with hoteps who even most black people think are weird (granted hoteps tend to have strange views on more than just race). I would argue the incredibly black-centric worldview pushed by western media outlets nowadays is a watered down version of it: blacks on CNN might not believe Yakub created whitey in his lab but they definitely believe in their own supremacy and that white people are a curse.

I don’t think this twitter account is too far removed from that. Maybe a bit more Kangish than your average bluecheck journo/academic/activist but a similar amount of ethnocentrism.

Lots of other black supremacist types believe it too. Big one is the giant stone heads of the Olmecs supposedly reflecting African features meaning they wuz kangz in pre-Hispanic Mexico. There's also the legend of the medieval Malinese crossing the Atlantic (which for god knows what reason seems taken seriously by at least a few actual historians) and them saying a reference in Columbus (IIRC) to meeting "dark-skinned people" in Hispaniola is proof the natives there were black Africans.

The origin is probably because some Indians owned black slaves and especially because there used to be a Native American slave trade where Indians would sell each other to whites and work alongside blacks (neither fact is mentioned in schools). Both were considered "colored" and banned from marrying whites so the blacks and Indians mixed together meaning the remnants of some eastern tribes are basically black people. This happened a lot in places that imported African slaves, the Miskito in Nicaragua are a good example of these "black Indians."
