Call me old timey but I've watched enough upper-societal movies from the 1800s to realize that the socialite has always been a viable career path for rich daughters, but this is almost too on the nose. Literally show up at parties nude and go "who wants to fund me". At least back then you had warfare educated men looking for an at-home woman who could carry herself and at least sew a bit.
