Good start to the thread. I remember after watching some of this guy's videos, I dropped into one of his livestreams and watched it for a bit, and he came off as such a bitter and joyless person. He eventually got into some argument with his chat and I remember him telling them to shut up about it or he'd ban them. He kind of reminds me of Fredrik Knudsen in how different he is from his pre-scripted videos, when you get a look behind the curtain it's like "wow, this is not what I expected."

Its much harder to hide who you really are during livestreams because you are reacting to shit in real time and there is the "advantage" of hearing every cheer and boo thrown at you in great detail. Now, I get it, it can be annoying and if someone is legit being a dickhead, remove them but you really gotta make it clear that this was a last resort thing because the line between "justified" and "literally 1984" can become very thin, especially when you throw parasocial relationships into the mix.

With all of that said, it can be a good test of character since that is only truly tested with power and adversity, especially while doing a high stress thing like speedrunning (not that it makes it any less faggot normie tier activity).

Editing is kind like make up on an online personality, without it, you may not exactly like what you will see

While I admire The-Elite for being one of the oldest and most dedicated speedrunning communities, I see them as such an irritating waste of potential. The opportunities lost in real life from grinding the same level over and over in sessions longer than many 100% runs of other games aside, they could be the best at any other game if they just banded together and hive-minded it on one of them. After one runner, Eric Liikala, became the first to beat Attack Ship on Dark LTK settings, he quickly discovered a new strategy on Cruis'n USA and got all untied WRs on the game in a matter of weeks. Imagine what most speedrunners of popular games could accomplish if they left their comfort zones for a few weeks and teamed up on an underplayed game, unearthing innovative techniques and taking times down my minutes each. Instead they will stick to their favorite games and create loads of unnecessary and arbitrary categories for easy WRs in their favorite games instead of leaving their comfort zones.

I did congratulate Joakim Ljung for getting two System Untieds on Dam Agent when Karl got one, but at least system records allow anyone to be competitive even when they have the suboptimal version. You're still playing a professionally-released game with no cheats. The-Elite has recently opened up new leaderboards on numerous arbitrary categories elsewhere, many of them involving cheats, when the point of competitive gaming is to excel at a game without them.

Why is 16 Stars in Mario 64 still a thing and why is it a main category when 31 Stars and 50 Stars aren't?

He is also recapping a situation that has been covered in-depth by other channels before him and it is a very low effort summary and repost of existing content.
