After I left last time, I got several DMs saying I'm terrible for finally creating a KF account, but realistically, if I wasn't told I was a KF user so much, I wouldn't be a KF user at all.

To anyone responding to this post specifically: I was answering someone and then explained why I changed my mind. You can continue to give it weird reactions, but that's the reputation that this site has. I explained my personal thoughts process as a recent convert. It's literally the meme of being in the middle, and then some lefty faggot pushes you over the line and asks why you picked their side instead.

And it only has that reputation because of bad actors, most of which aren't members of this site. But I still don't like some of the archival practices.

Tbh, considering my history of saying "I don't trust this", especially with regards to Apollo and Karl, I'm sticking around to help document people early on who are going to go full retard.

I just wanted to clarify this in case anyone misunderstood why I explained, as I also explained this in a different thread when a similar inquiry was posed.

Few places rely on archiving as much as KF. It seems like an uppity thing to do in any other context than a formal forum like this. You usually see people go "uhh you said this uhh then and uhh here's a link! oh the tweet is gone".

I think most people would feel uncertain if someone came to them with CCTV footage of them going to the store and saying "You went to the store 6pm yesterday, yes? You looked like this and bought all of these things, right?". Literally nothing wrong but it's documented and public. You lose control of the narrative and that's all these people have. Jorbfst can say "I don't wack it to tranny porn" and 80% of his audience will immediately believe him.

Between speculation on whether he should backtrack or double down to try to salvage this situation, Karl's dad urging him in 2001 to go and see that there's a whole world outside the N64 (and computer) remains the best advice to this day. As retarded as it was for him to use his real name online and then run it into the ground as far as the speedrunning community is concerned, most other people pushing 40 in real life have never heard of a Karl Jobst and wouldn't understand or care about petty vidya drama even if they find out about it in passing. Sure, his financial situation is screwed up, but compared to other cows he could be doing alright in life if he would grow up a little—just log off and find a job that doesn't revolve around slapfighting with autists. E-celeb fame, not even once.

Especially drop the coomer garbage and discord blogposting. It's one thing to act that way as a NEET teenager but you've actually got a wife and son now man, quit being a fag online and go spend some time with them instead.

If you do it in public, it no longer belongs to you.
If you did not want people to find and talk about it, you should have either never done it, or deleted it.

Archiving is essential, because it prevents people who did things to pretend "that never happened". Just look at Nick Rekieta who has been trying to rewrite his arrest and subsequent positive cocaine test of one of his kids. People will try to lie their way out of situations they have put themselves in every single time.
Archiving means they can't.

It is proof that something happened.
Just look at all the shit Karl said since 2021, isn't it great context for the story he was publicly telling?
Or Alyssa Mercante with her lulsuit for harassment, but her Tweets were archived proving she herself said pretty much all those things about herself first or admitted doing them.

Archives save people's asses.
