Maybe she didn't go to college after all and it was just Phil upselling her. Having a job when you're a sugarbaby is smart. It's not like she's been very succesful at milking Phil. Soulmaid couldn't even get a shitty trip to Japan. But at least she gets room and board and keeps her own money. She'll also have a shot at alimony soon enough.
It's a bit of mystery, what we can say is that Phil likes to live "dangerously" in terms of his finances, spends it like water, has no savings account to speak of, leaves tax spending to the last minute etc. So as far as he's concerned, he can't cover the immediate financial needs of Kat not only because he doesn't seem to care about her that much at all, but because he's incapable of doing so when drawing upon how much he spends and wastes on himself.

My guess is that she flunked out and left it off her CV because "dropout" is embarrassing and isn't that different fro high school diploma or GED on a job application.

the reason companies let you transfer like that is because you're already within the company system. it's really easy for them to move you to another location because you've already done the interview process, have a bank associated with them and presumably don't need any new training.

Also really proves how much of a loser Kat is, she tried picking up a job that was supposed to support herself, and ends up being hired to help for a reasonably short time. There's just a lot of good jobs that she can just pick instead of just taking a second job in GameStop for just a limited time.
Worse part, it's GameStop. I'd bet anything her former manager threw her and the other seasonal employees under the bus to cover for the stores shrink. A re-hire is next to impossible.

If I was the manager at a retailer or grocery store, or restaurant, I would totally hire Kat over Phil. Her resume is hirable for entry-level jobs. I would not count on Phil lasting a week if I hired him.
