It's super obvious the angle in the documentary is going to be the big bad mean detractors were mean to me on the Internet and that's why I turned into a landwhale.

That and, what many others have said, he wanted to beat Mike to showing what she looked like.
 
Phil is ruthless, he is using every asset he has left: Cat, fat Khet and every one of his YouTube channel he can get hold of. He really bets all on the documentary to give him the same effect as for Boogie. But there is just one problem: Boogie has a podcast going on where the lolcow audience (aka hatewatchers) can be monetized by Boogie (indirectly), while the same thing for Phil are the detractors' channels. Nobody will start watching Phil because of a documentary unironically even if they feel sympathetic, but for YouTube detractors this could be a nice viewership boost. It's impossible to enjoy a Phil stream unless there is drama or you are a dent.
