I've confirmed Kat works at a national chain and the doors are open to the public between about 9 AM to 10 PM. As far as I can tell (I'm not super familiar with the company) employees don't show up or go home much before or after those hours. Her commute is next to nothing.

DSP's "she works really early" and "she works really late" is likely an exaggeration. (Keep in mind DSP once commented that he'd like more days off so he could sleep in once in a while when his first streams began at 1 PM.)

Is this 100%?
I've seen actually add her income to Phil's monthly round up, so if accurate it might help him.

It's still $12/hour now and $13.50/hour in January.

If I remember correctly, he's also commented that their "dinner" is her first meal of the day before heading to work because she's on the back shift. Assuming that's right, her shift would be like 6PM-10:30 PM (i.e. part time even if it's 7 days/week). Either that or she got canned from a second shift job fairly recently and Soap Queen's findings are for her next victim employer.

Is this 100%?
I've seen actually add her income to Phil's monthly round up, so if accurate it might help him.

Her being employed at all is a giant benefit: "Married filing jointly" status requires both spouses to be working but has much higher deductions and rate cut-offs than filing as head of household/single. By my rough math she brings in about $25k for Phil's toys and Netflix fund desperately needed money to pay muh basic bills.

The US has a progressive income tax system with "brackets"-the first $9,700 is taxed at 10% if you're single, the next ~$20,000 is taxed at 12%, etc. You also get a standard deduction (an amount exempt from tax) of $12,200. These values all double if you're married but the rates stay the same. Using the tax brackets from this link and assuming Phil takes no extra deductions, we get $15,246.50 on $100k income if she were unemployed, forcing him to file as "single" (his being married disqualifies him from "Head of Household" status) (after-tax income = $84,573.50)

Now let's add in Katherine's income. Based on Soap Queen's $12/hour figure, let's say Katherine works a standard 40 hours/week at 50 weeks/year (I'm skeptical of both when she's either part-time or working somewhere new, but even autism has its limits) for $24,000/year.

Using the married tax brackets gives us $13,629.00 on $124k income if they file jointly (after-tax income = $110,371.00)

So she saves him $1617.50 in taxes on top of her $24,000 in effectively tax free income (!)

Then you factor in benefits-Obamacare plans tend to be pricier than comparable employer provided ones and thanks to Phil's compulsive blabbing we know she is on crazy pills (most prescription plans will cover them in full even if you haven't hit the deductible because they are considered preventative care).

Tax stuff
I did a napkin math post comparing his household's tax situation filing as a married couple and filing as two single people assuming DSP makes $120K per year and Kat earns 20K per year.

Single:
  • DSP pays $22K in taxes
  • Kat pays $2K in taxes
  • Household pays $24K in taxes
Married:
  • Household pays $28K in taxes
Taking into account the interest he's likely paying toward his two mortgages it only slightly changes. Filing single they'd pay a combined $20K and filing as a married couple they'd pay a combined $25K.

Getting married screwed them out of $4-5K a year in tax savings.

EDIT:

DSP's income is reduced by 20% as income from a pass-through business, so in your example only $80K of his $100K would be taxed. DSP would pay $17K per year (WowDood that number seems awfully familiar... it's exactly what he said he needed at the beginning of 2019...) Kat would pay $3K in your example. They'd pay a total of $20K.

With the same income figures as a married couple they would pay $24K.

His/their taxable income would be further reduced by the interest payments he's making toward his two mortgages.

That would be true if Phil was a fucking remotely normal person. He eats dinner right after 1st stream, which ends right at about 4 PM his time. So he's probably got the "food" reheated and out of the packaging by 4:30.

I understand that, but if you tack on a few minutes after stream ends, 90-plus minutes for cooking/eating/cleaning, and another 10 to get ready for work (put on her uniform or whatever) then there isn't much downtime between defrosting the Schwan's at 4:15 and leaving for work at 5:30 (all + or -).

Pretty sure you need to double-check your math, one of the big goals of the Trump tax cuts was to eliminate the "marriage penalty" where married couples filing jointly paid a higher rate than filing separately.

Both filing single:

Using the tax tables:

Phil: Taxable income = $107,800
10% * ($9,700 - 0) = $970
12% * ($39,475 - $9,700) = $3,573
22% * ($84,200 - $39,475) = $9,839.50
24% * ((107,800 - 84,200) = $5,664
Total tax = $20,046.50.

Katherine: $20,000 - $12,200 = $7,800

Her income is all in the lowest bracket so she pays $780.

This works out to a total tax bill of $20,826.50

Married:

The standard deduction is doubled so their combined taxable income is just the sum of the individual incomes ($107,800 + $7,800 = $115,600) and now the bracket cutoffs are doubled.

10% * ($19,400 - $0) = $1,940
12% * ($78,950 - $19,400) = $7,146
22% * ($115,600-$78,950) = $8,063

Total = $17,149

So the savings are still about $2,700 compared with filing separately (I gave a much higher number up above because my math for Phil's single taxes assumed that Katherine wasn't working, not that she was filing separately).

I'm gonna need a baseball bat jilling off pic with khet in uniform to believe her company is 9 - 10.
If we can believe that she works at Kohl's, here are their hours.

Are you guys factoring in his deductions for being registered as a home business? (Is that what pass-through business means?)

The deductions are pretty damn significant, and from the research I've done before on this, he barely technically qualifies, though it'd on the edge of fraudulent.
Besides mortgage interest, property taxes, or rent, there are other expenses that home business operators who qualify for business-use-of-home deductions can claim.
...
Some of the most common of these are:
  • Heat.
  • Lights.
  • Water.
  • Maintenance and repairs.
  • Cleaning materials.
  • Telephone.
  • Internet connection.

I only have passing knowledge on home business tax stuff so take this with a grain of salt, but I believe all those deductions only apply to the parts of your home that you use for business, not the entire house. That was the mistake that another YouTube based cow, Onison, made, where instead of trying to deduct for a home office, he deducted everything. In Phil's case, he might be able to claim the business class internet line if he only uses it for work, but if he uses it at all outside of his streams/uploading, it doesn't count.

I ran these through smartasset.com so it's possible. I instinctually assume DSP has fucked himself over whenever he makes big decisions.

No pass-through means the company itself pays no taxes (so sole proprietors, LLCs, S-Corps, and the various partnerships) and gets a 20% deduction of business income.

I'll preface this with the following:
If I missed the post where it was confirmed, sorry I can't read all this autism I miss a few things once in a while.

That doesn't confirm she works there though. I know the name of this thread is "Kat Speculation" But shit like people pulling a mall / store out their ass and saying Kat works there just further proves Phil points about people making shit up about his life. If you're going to gawk at a 36 year old fat man playing games can we at least get the facts right?

I'm not saying she doesn't work there either but there is a lot of places that are 9 - 10pm in the Seattle / Renton area.

In other news: Mrs. D$P has today and tomorrow off according to today's stream. She is "home today" and seeing as tomorrow is his 'off day', she has tomorrow off as well.

People can be mad about speculation but DSP reveals way more information than he thinks he does.

People have speculated she worked at Kohl's since basically day one based on her buying him gamer shirts and beanie babies. In addition, nearly every place he says they visit is basically on the road between Kohl's and their home. It's pretty reasonable to believe she sees places on her commute and comes home asking him to take her there.

I'm just saying the guess was educated.

Triple Edit: Maybe this is just me being weird, but DSP said that his day off is "the only day a week we get to do grocery shopping". Why can't Kat get groceries on the way home from work? Or why can't DSP get groceries in the five hours after his second stream ends? This is also moments after he said Kat is in her room playing Skyrim. So why can't she go shopping right now during his second stream.

Save me the sexist talk and all that bullshit but every single woman I've dated always loved to do grocery shopping on their own.

Especially for the chicks that truly loved me (like my current one), it's their way to show me affection that they can do the grocery shopping on their own and cook me a bomb ass meal a couple of times a week. Or maybe I'm just really lucky but that's been the norm for me many times in the past.

Now let's look at Khet and Dave's relationship with it comes to grocery shopping/ cooking: Phil claims he's always present during the shopping (because it's a lot of stuff, dood) so he has to be there. But how come Khet can't stop by the grocery store on the way back from work and buy a few things to cook dinner for 2-3 days, not for 9 fucking days? How come she can't buy simple items that are easy to carry for one person to cook a simple, healthy meal? How come she cooks frozen bullshit? How come Dave constantly claims that he cooks and she doesn't because "it wouldn't be fair to have her do all the work?"

The conclusion is simple enough: Khet doesn't give a fuck about her man. The way they acted on stream was very apparent as well. If a chick is really onto you, she's not embarrassed to be all over you. Leanna was a good example where she was all over Phil (fucking disgusting, I know) but she genuinely liked him. She liked piggy and showed that affection on camera/ stream often enough (through body posture, hugs, physical affection) and DSP showed the true beta virgin cuck that he was by being embarrassed of such public displays of emotion. Khet, on the other hand, wouldn't even kiss him on stream without being forced to do so. It's apparent she's not attracted to him, either physically or emotionally.

Khet is repulsed by DSP. She cares very little for him; there are lots of questions on these forums as to why he's always so salty and I put my money on his daily interactions with his wife that are probably unsatisfying and unfulfilling. I bet that DSP is extremely insecure about his relationship with his wife because she isn't reciprocating the emotions he expected to come with putting a ring on her finger.

This shit is getting to DSP. I'd say in a year or two, he's going to self-implode and self-sabotage himself in an irreparable way due to the issues he's having in his marriage.

You're not being weird. That's hands down the one thing that makes me legitimately mad online about Phil. Going grocery shopping is this huge fucking ordeal that takes the entire day. Taking a shower and shaving has to take him ALL NIGHT. Brushing your teeth and making breakfast is "the whole time it's motion motion, I have to run to the bathroom, I run downstairs, motion motion, I take the M/ilk out of the refrigerator THEN I have to take off the cap..."

It's all just part of his whole Appealing to Wheelchairs routine. Manchildren and people who can't bathe themselves have no frame of reference for how long it takes a (relatively) able-bodied adult to do commonplace activities. To be fair, the notion of getting up, putting on clothes, going out and doing shopping is daunting when you're depressed.

I emphasize legitimately depressed, which Phil is most certainly not, though I can imagine having a near-perpetual hangover can make things seem difficult as well. He's just a lazy drunk who fell into a fanbase that's somehow marginally more clueless than even he is.

DSP said that he and Kat had to "run around the state" after the wedding so Kat could change her last name. What the fuck is he talking about?

I think he misspoke and isn't talking about changing her last name per se but simply about having it changed on anything that includes her I.D - bank accounts, driver license, all that.

I don't know how cross-states stuff works, since I don't live in the U.S, but I would imagine there could be some urgency to it since if she's born in Connecticut, it might only be there that she can get stuff issued specifically by the state of Connecticut changed, assuming that by "around the state" he's talking about Connecticut and not Washington. Though in that case it would beg the question of why she wouldn't just have everything done by the state of Washington, "officially" moving there since she'll live there supposedly forever, really until she divorces DSP, which...Yeah actually I can see why she wouldn't bother.

Why can't Kat get groceries on the way home from work?

Because if DSP pays for the groceries - I don't quite imagine them having a shared account, or Kat paying for everything - then he has to be there, or give her his money/means to pay, which I'm not sure he'd do, greedy little man.

You can do name change stuff mostly electronically now as long as you have a copy of the marriage certificate handy to fax/email in. It can be a little easier to do in person, but Phil is, as usual, making it seem like a much bigger deal than it actually is.

Kat probably hates cooking. Dsp or kat’s probably just using the time shopping as an excuse to spend some more time together. Or maybe he’s just trying to keep the leash a little extra tight.

Here's a simple solution in the event you don't want to make a few stops to change your surname as part of your post-nuptuals: just don't do it. It makes exactly zero fucking difference outside the sentimentality of the married couple, and as such if it's that much trouble you don't get to bitch about it after the fact.

It's not like sitting in traffic, or paying taxes, or any of the things Phil complains about when he's acting like he imagines an adult acts like and pretending such things actually affect him. He's such a fucking alien when he steps out of his bubble and acts as though he has the slightest grasp on what it is to be truly on one's own. He's never been on his own a day in his life; he went from home to college to living by himself while still having mummy and daddy coming by every weekend to cook and clean for him to living with Leanna shortly followed by Kat, and for the last eleven years he's been buoyed up by a small but dedicated throng of willful naïfs in lieu of actual employment. I'd imagine any form of obligation is a chore when you're a slave to nothing but your own whims day in and day out.
