Can't 100% say about Kat, only speculate, but we know Phil very well, and it's safe to say that with him being as self-absorbed as he is, he may just be reacting to his failed relationship with Leanna more than he is to his current relationship with Katherine. Meaning, he thinks acting this way, which is such the opposite of how Young Phil was, will prevent the loss of his soulmaid. It doesn't take much for him to get stupid ideas in his oddly-shaped head, after all, and they're not typically based on subtle cues, either.

Though in thinking on that, it may mean Kat is more of a whip-cracker than I expect, because she would really have to hammer it home for Phil to get the message. Assuming her behavior has anything to do with him thinking that Puritan Phil is the way to go. It may not. Like I said, his failure with Leanna may be enough to give him that indication. We know how wounded he still is over that, every bit of remotely sexual content in a game could be triggering memories that are still fresh and painful for him. Especially considering the fact that he wasn't banging Leanna, because he didn't want to, and he clearly didn't like that part of being with her.

That last part is a hard thing for me to overlook, because on top of it more than likely being the sorest subject for Phil, it still boggles my mind that it's true.

According to Phil, he doesn't romance characters in games because he has improved his content. He no longer sexualizes video game women. This shows how much he has improved as a content creator.

This excuse is obviously a lie.

There are a dozen things he could do to improve his content. Doing less things in a game, not doing side missions or exploring romance options, is not an improvement.

It's one thing to change and improve by not saying things like, "I wanna squeeze them big Asian titties'". It's a whole other extreme to avoid video game women all together.

We know Phil has seen fictional characters as sexual objects in the past. The Connecticut condo had big tittied busts of comic book women, a giant framed picture of over sexualized video game women, and at least three paintings that were created by a woman who spread paint on her tits and smeared them on the canvas.

Look at how he acts towards wrestling. He doesn't even watch wrestling for really real you guys. He canceled WWE Network years ago (please ignore his bankruptcy hearing where he said he still had it). Phil claims he doesn't care about wrestling because he doesn't want people to know still does care about wrestling and plays WWE Champions.

Phil doesn't sexualize video game characters on stream anymore because he doesn't want you to know that he is sexually attracted to fictional characters.

Would explain the over-blown way he looks at in-game romance. It has been said here before that Phil calls it "cheating" because he can't so easily separate fantasy from reality, which is supported by his lack of recognizing wrestling as fake until he was in college. I think if he's attracted to characters, still, that has a lot to do with it, and his treatment of it as being wrong. He does love to project, and is so self-absorbed that he doesn't relate to the experiences and attitudes of normal people in the least. Practically everything he bitches about or tries to act above, he has a history of doing.

He also loves to pretend that he has moved on from saying the kinds of offensive things Young Phil was known for, when really it's obvious that he's just keeping it in now. He all but confirmed that in his bitch-fit over the idea that Twitch kicked him over offensive slurs, saying he has "worked so hard" to not be Young Phil. We know what that means...
 
I think his aversion to video game romance is just Phil trying to act "mature". Phil can't separate himself from the video game character he is playing as. That's why he likes to play giant muscular dudes and whenever there's a customizer, he has to make himself. It's also why with things like FF7 where your character crossdresses, he gets so uncomfortable and takes offense, because he thinks the game is calling him a sissy crossdresser.

Taking it one step further, I think it has to do with Phil's limited world view, which is seemingly based off of old media he's consumed. The old nerdy joke back in the day was the loser virgin nerd stereotype falling in love with a video game character and acting like it was a real relationship. In general, Phil is also weirdly dismissive of getting emotionally invested in video games. He won't get into horror games and he's dismissive of any kind of plot/character growth moments and barely seems to even understand what is going on in a game. I think this goes back to Phil wanting to be cool and not what he thinks a nerd is. He's too much of a manly body builder to get invested in emotions. Real adults have real romance, only basement dwelling losers need to get their romance from a video game.

Khet could potentially play a role in it as well, but it seems doubtful. Mostly because that implies Khet is watching his streams and would witness said cheating. It's pretty clear she's not watching his streams and seemingly has no interest in them. If asked, I doubt she could even say what games Phil played on his streams, let alone provide any kind of relevant plot details about where Phil is/what he was doing.

He also doesn't want to wear glasses because he thinks it makes him look like nerd. The problem with phil is that his mindset and ideas are based on 80s stereotypes, he refuse to go to Walmart or any cheap places because he might get robbed/beaten by black thugs.

After rewatching Kat's reaction to a chat question about a "crazy ex" I'm pretty convinced she's jealous as fuck and a big part of why DSP has become a retarded puritan.

If she really was paying way more attention to the chat than what Mr. Potatohead was rambling about, then yes, I can see that.

Either way, it doesn't much for Phil to get a dumb idea in his oddly-shaped head and run it into the ground no matter how much he gets made fun of for it, so long as the alternative is worse. Which in this case, it arguably is. I mean, this is the guy who can't admit to falling asleep on stream the second after he just had his fucking eyes closed all the way and his head down. Imagine him trying to hold the L he would take if he went back to Young Phil after all these years of insisting that anyone referencing that is an idiot stuck in the past.

Yes, and I think the same about most "internet analysis" on pictures and videos of people where the preconceptions outstrip the actual content available. It's because we already know the story that we start seeing evidence for it everywhere.

I think people online have a tendency to reduce everything to autism. Kat took one beating by DSP's chat and she's never been seen again to the point that people question whether she's even still there anymore.

She's clearly not this retarded bimbo people make her out to be. Retarded bimbo's tend to love attention whether positive or negative (see; her sister). I'd need a much more convincing argument than "lol she's an autistic scramble-brain" to agree that her eye-rolling and sulk-face at the mention of DSP having a "crazy ex" was a mere coincidence and just a product of a spastic not knowing what to do with her face.

Counter point, she willingly married Phil, that's pretty retarded. Even if it is part of some Machiavellian 5d chess move to get rich, it's a bad idea. Phil himself is proof you can grift people for hundreds of thousands without marrying them.

I don't think Khet reacting negatively to mentions of Leanna means much of anything. It sounds like natural reactions to someone she dislikes, and since her only knowledge of Leanna comes from Phil, of course she'll react negatively. We know how Phil tries to spin things so nothing is ever his fault/how prone he is to drama. I don't have any doubts he absolutely talked shit about Leanna to Khet.

Khet might not be dent in head retarded, but there's no denying she's very, very simple. But, that's neither here or there in terms of jealousy. I mentioned before I don't think Khet would get jealous of video game romance because she doesn't watch Phil's streams so wouldn't know if he was "cheating" on her in the first place. I'll take it one step further and say, even if she is prone to jealousy, I don't think she cares enough about Phil to get jealous.

Khet doesn't want to spend time with Phil. Leanna, for whatever reason, did. This was a point of conflict in their relationship, with Phil openly relenting and giving in to Leanna's demands to spend more time with her. If Khet cared about Phil, and was as much of a ballbuster as some people believe, she'd absolutely insist Phil spend more time with her. I'd even go so far and say that, if she was so jealous to the point she gets upset over Phil's video game romances, she'd also get jealous over his stream regulars, since he spends so much more time with them instead of her.

I could see a world where Phil thinks Khet would get upset about his gaming indiscretions. I don't remember if it was here or in the general thread, but there was a brief discussion about Phil projecting himself onto all his video game characters. Phil is also weirdly paranoid and just in general believes outrageous things, like stepping foot into Walmart means entering an urban CoD style deathmatch. I think it's entirely possible Phil is the one who believes video game romance = cheating because he can't distinguish himself from his in game character.

I guess the TLDR is I think Khet cares so little about Phil that, even if she were naturally prone to irrational jealousy, her indifference to Phil is so great she wouldn't even be jealous about whatever game he's playing.
