Kelsey Grammer to return as Frasier in reboot of hit comedy - Actor is ‘gleefully anticipating’ the return of the comedy, which is being rebooted after 17 years

S09E22 Frasier Has Spokane
the subject of Marty's bad attempts at carpentry when the Cranes were kids came up

Frasier: Even with directions, you could never assemble anything. I remember a play set where the slide ended right in front of the swings.
Niles: I don't remember that.
Frasier: I know. Sorry.

I'll admit, the scene in that episode where Roz cries over her ex gets me every time.

I love Peri Gilpin. She was incredible as Roz. It was fun hearing her voice Volcana in the Superman and Justice League cartoons.

Season 2 has been better than season 1 so far. It's still not as good as the original, but I actually laughed at this week's episode, Cape Cod. It had a lot more of the farcical elements Frasier was known for. I also think it's smart that Roz is essentially a recurring character now.
Its really sad that Kelsey Grammar is on a different level than everybody else on the show. Frederick is wooden in every one of his scenes. Eve is so cliche (nice tits tho), she feels like a parody of 2000s sitcom characters. The weird part is, when the sitcom characters are together, it works. When Frasier is with the old Frasier characters, it works. When Frasier is with the sitcom characters, its completely discordant.

I just watched the Bebe episode, and the biggest let down is when Freddie shows up to ruin the scene between Frasier and Bebe. Fuck man, take some acting lessons.

Part of it is that Kelsey is from a vastly different generation than the rest of the cast is. A big reason why Frasier with the old characters works so well is there's 40+ years of history with these characters.

At the same time though I think part of it is ego. Since when they were making Frasier, Kelsey Grammar mentioned they approached it as if it wasn't even a sequel to Cheers at all. Since making it a sequel to Cheers was pushed upon them by the studio. However now he's intentionally making a sequel and he has an ego toward his legacy. So he's probably not going to do bits like this.
This is also my theory as to why David Hyde Pierce didn't want to come back as he likely saw Kelsey as just doing it for ego and adopted a wait and see approach before deciding to return. And he still doesn't think it's worth coming back to.

I assume Grammer did this show because his personal life is a trainwreck and between the drugs and bimbo wives, he’s running low on funds. Pierce has arguably had a better career post-Frasier than Grammer has, focusing a lot on the theatre, and isn’t known to be a spendthrift so therefore he doesn’t need to do this show if he doesn’t have to. Wouldn’t surprise me if he makes an appearance at some point if this reboot lasts a couple more seasons but wouldn’t hold my breath.

Frasier has been canceled and CBS is trying to sell it to Hulu or Prime. I'm not really surprised or sad about the cancelation. Season two was a bit better, mostly because we got more Roz, though her KACL episode was really bad. I'm most sad that we didn't get another episode with Lilith. Frasier and Lilith play off each other so well and with them both back in Boston it was a shame that she wasn't available for more episodes.

At least we got the HD remastered blu-rays as a result of the reboot. Frasier doesn't benefit as much from an HD master as shows like Seinfeld or Star Trek, but my god, the SD heavily interlaced episodes on streaming services are nigh-unwatchable.

is there something particularly awful about the official streaming?
pretty sure I've only watched it on cytube so that's the usual crapshoot, so I dunno
It just looks like shit in general.

A quick comparison.
