Devil's advocate here, but I don't think it quite means that. Imagine you're archie. You've just utterly bungled an easy lawsuit through a combination of your own ineptitude for record keeping, as well as your retarded lawyers. You've settled, likely because the company loaning you pretty much your only still somewhat worthwhile ip is breathing down your neck to make this retardation go away. We don't quite know the settlement apart from what Ken Penders himself claims is in it, and he also claims to own the very concept of knuckles having a dad or basic things that were in the video games long before any of his comics, so he can't always be trusted as the most accurate source of information, whether or not he's lying or just retarded enough to huff his own farts.

Do you:
A): Continue using dubiously popular side characters in your spinoff comic based on a defunct cartoon show alternate canon of a 90s video game mascot that is currently in the absolute gutter, risking more retardation from a fat retard for essentially zero possible benefit?

B): Let him have his retarded little toys and salt the fields by removing them from all possible avenues of canon and marketing?
B lol, how did archie fuck this up so badly. The real question is will sega ever do anything with the freedom fighters lol. Rather see them then idw's cast.

With how popular reboots are now, it's funny how much insanity happened in that comic since it ran for so long. That's the kind of insane shit you only see in webcomics now.
They're popular in the mainstream now, yeah, but even in the heyday of the Archie comic this concept was very well-known to western comic readers.
It was impressive how they had to tie it in with every game that was releasing instead of just having a separate comic for that game or 'reboot' for that era, During the 90s it was pretty easy to do as they were similar enough in aesthetic and setting to fit with little issue, but when Adventure hit the scene they went pretty crazy with it. It's funnier they even included stuff from these game because a Sonic X comic did exist but the madmen did it and justified having the human city on Mobius by doing dumb shit like this:

Honestly, I don't think there's anything wrong with anyone enjoying some of Archie Sonic, it's dumb but it's a comic book mostly read by nostalgic fans and it isn't capeshit. Really, the biggest problem with it is that the art becomes shaky and inconsistent later at least until the late 100s when the strong art at the beginning is one of the bigger selling points. Hilariously, it started having a faux-animu style around the same time Sonichu did. A lot of people in their mid 20s have fond memories of this stuff and I'd say Ken Penders like a lot of people would have a more mixed legacy if he wasn't so vocal, especially on Twitter. A lot of the echidna shit wasn't even visible if you didn't read the Knuckles comic which is where most of his infamy comes from.

It's a little disappointing that he's just your garden variety Twitter politisperg. He should really team up with Richard Kuta and try to finally get that SatAM movie made. Or hell, make comics about anyone other than his Brianna Wu abominations, he owns the rights to Scourge who was incredibly popular back in the day. A webcomic about Scourge would probably do well. :optimistic:

You guys make me want to read these retarded comics from where I left off in 1998 or some shit lmao. Hey I downloaded them already so the intent was already there
Be warned, this shit will suck you in. I recently went in thinking I would just laugh and have a few yucks at the shitty art and terrible writing. Which I did. Up until after issue 160. I want to jump off a fucking bridge for liking this batshit comic unironically. It becomes well written enough to re-contextualize a-lot of the older stuff as being "ok" even.

Ken Penders being salty towards some random user. He says the comics will go up in price.

Really though, why IS that, Ken?

I wonder abou the split before and after Endgame, since that split meant at least 2 Archie Comics... 3 if you coun the Super Genesis Wave. How ould that 3-way split affec the nostalgia?

The SGW is a reboot and isn't what most people are talking about. Really just read what you're familiar with and AFAIK they explain references to secondary material with authors notes.
Here's a pre-reboot timeline.

I still hold strong to the fact Ken can and does have the right to reprint this shit, but I still think he might set himself up for failure by putting Knucks on the cover. I actually think he probably did the right thing legally to call it "Ken Penders' Knuckles" because that'll make sure it (legally speaking) prominently displays that this is not SEGA's Knuckles, but Ken's and unrelated, not to be confused. that said, he should have just drawn a big ass ring and one of Knuckles' gloves for the cover because I still don't think he can plaster the image of a totally recognizable character on the cover itself. if he was smart (he isn't) he would design a really basic consistent trade dress for these and all of his sonic volumes that just have "THE MOBIAN LINE" as a designed logo across the top, a basic color background (red for knucks/blue for sonic) with some background elements, a big ring around sonic's shoes or knuckles' gloves and "Volume x Ken Penders' StH or KtE #xx-xx" across the bottom. that type of iconography is enough for someone who knows sonic to look at it and go oh shit a giant sonic or knuckles comic, but generic enough he wouldn't get shut down in some way.

as for the cover itself, I love the shitty basic bold font lmfao I laughed out loud looking at it. the knuckles himself on there, sucks but isn't all that far off from some of his wonkier work in the comic whenever he was on art and is better than his LSC digital shit he loves to do. I also find it funny he has to specify omnibus so large on the cover. just put KP's Knuckles Volume One you retard. or put omnibus volume 1 in smaller print it makes it seem like the term omnibus is part of the series title, like Ken Penders' Knuckles Omnibus is the name of the comic. stupid nitpick but really the book design is just so poor I can't help but think about these things. look up any dc omnibus' cover and that word is in small print below the title around the volume number (if applicable)
