I just don't understand the obsession Kent has with having a girlfriend. A mix of being overweight and having serious social anxiety meant I didn't start dating until I was 23, yet I never felt so desperate to date someone. Instead of focusing on getting a gf I focused on working hard, losing the weight and going to a therapist to sort out my anxiety and eventually it worked and I found a great girl.
Guys like Kent and Jamil are so obsessed with getting a gf, its almost like they think all of life's problems would be solved if they had one. I don't understand that mindset that these guys have that women are the be all and end all of life, why is that the most important thing in life to them?
There's no way Kent will ever see the world differently as long as he continues believing Calvin is a reliable source of information. The guy desperately needs a mentor that isn't an annoying fat bitch like Calvin. Also, what is it with these guys thinking a woman should date them because they called them a great guy? Can't they take a fucking compliment for what it is rather than assume there's a deeper meaning to it?

This is how I'm feeling I'm still depressed earlier today, still struggling still fighting I'm out staying out of trouble not causing problems I don't cause problems I'm not that kinda person I don't cause others problem. Agree with all of this. They're just too simple-minded to understand basic etiquette. Women are what they would like to conquer, so they'll look for any opening. At one point, I had an issue reading more into certain things than necessary, but that was during a phase where I was just being stupid. Not to the extent of Kent (IE this woman at church gave me a pizza her son messed around with, she must find me attractive) or any of these other guys, though. I would just put so much emphasis on how people (primarily women) perceived me, and this just made me into a zombie that needed validation.

Which is why I feel that it's other things influencing him other than depression. He's a coddled little snot and doesn't understand much of anything, also including him as being an unreliable narrator like CWC.
There's more in the mix for sure and I think he uses his depression as a crutch but still suffers from it.
