I think part of the fact they think being polite is so good, is this whole "thug" thing they are so hung up on. They aren't thugs and thugs aren't nice people. I know we all semi joke about this but, Kent has gone out of his way to set up his rules for his girl friend and it's emotional abuse some of the things he says he will enact.

Emotional abuse can really mess with you and tends to escalate too, it's not about strength or size like a boxing match, when kent is ready to start slapping a girl, he will and by then she will be broken enough to take it.
