I'm not saying that Gaiman isn't pro-trans (probably easily imperfectly so by troon standards), nor that Kevin isn't right that Gaiman doesn't depict gods as perfect (something more common, especially in intentional fiction, than Kevin seems to think), but you'd think that knowing how pro-trans it is, and easily found for free on the internet, they might bother to read the story before commenting and creating elaborate theories about Gaiman.

The first panel is from the troon being informed that they weren't allowed to travel with the women because they aren't a woman (and being warned about messing with nature), which is really important to the context in the other panel shown in that tweet:

Even back when I was pro-trans, I never got the big deal about the moon goddess not letting Wanda go on the quest. Sandman isn’t exactly about how deities are infallible beings who know the objective truth of reality. Of course, now I think the moon goddess is based and redpilled. The only monthly cycle trans-women experience ironically is giving Neil Gaiman shit for ”A Game of You.“

Then of course there’s the advanced version of this Disc Horse, where we straight up accuse Gaiman of causing trans suicides by having Wanda’s spirit appear in female form alongside Death at the end of the arc. Remember kids, trans isn’t a mental or medical condition, but trans people are so sensitive that a bittersweet ending in a fantasy comic can induce suicide.

Man, imagine how much shit Gaiman would’ve gotten if Wanda’s ghost had still clearly been male, but content with themselves when Barb sees them at the end. I think the lesson here is to just not write trans characters. Too much trouble.

I can only imagine to avoid reeeing and Gaiman getting shit.

Perfectly reasonable and accurate.

This of course is removed from the audio drama, they just gloss over the line. The obvious explanation is that they don’t want to “Trigger” some whiny troon collective who will squeak about “exclusion”.

If the Netflix series makes it as far as game of you, I actually hope that they do something based like change Wanda to a trans man, and allow him/her to come along on the moon ride, say leaving the pregnant Dyke behind because of reasons.

Anyway, I hope kevvie does not start identifying as Desire or something once he watches the show.

The Trans genocide is caused by popular authors not writing trans characters exactly how random trans people expect them too.

Honestly I’m wondering if part of why so man trans hate the Wanda arc is the suggestion that they might in fact dress tacky. Clearly Gaiman needs a lecture on how the distinction between artificial and natural is white supremacy or something,

I joke, but that does legit feel like one of the many TRA paradoxes. People like Kevin want to their male features to be considered feminine in and of themselves, even as they desperately try to alter those features so they look more womanly. I’m sure Gaiman has apologised for that very page Winnie posted many times, but I think he hit something on the head. Oftentimes, camp was and is a coping mechanism. A way of compensating for something you didn’t have, whether that was the acceptance of society or an actual, female body. For trans people, it’s a plastic recreation of something they can never have. Older generations sometimes displayed keen, painful self-awareness of this, but not Kevin’s wave of “trans woman are both identical to and superior to cis women” happy-clappers. They can’t afford to admit they’d like to be authentic, because that would mean admitting they’re fake.

TRAs don’t shit on Wanda because he’s a caricature, or unflattering, or because Gaiman chose to kill him off. They hate him because, as sympathetic as Gaiman is to the character, he’s honest.

(Yes, it is pretty funny that Gaiman chose to depict Wanda’s True, Honest Woman form dressed like Alvin’s great-grandma)
