Isn't the point of captions to quickly clue the deaf audience in to what's going on in tone and atmosphere+dialogue in bitesize pieces, so they're not focused on reading while the subtle action of body language and action is happening above? You can miss a ton of shit if you read long-ass captions.

This guy... He's a man in his thirties too pathetic to actually discuss the issue with his mom, but if he somehow did have the spoons™️, his argument would be "if you thought it was dangerous, why did you let me get vaccinated?"

Edit: On second thought, given the major life decisions he made for himself, he'd be better off running all choices, large and small, past his mom.

For once I agree with Kevvy. I don't mind when a few words are chopped out of the subtitles, long as the jist of what was said is still passed along. My problem is when they mishear or make spelling mistakes that mess up the meaning of the sentence, or just turn it into nonsense entirely. I doubt the captioners have scripts to work with, but if you're watching a show about ancient Egypt and typing out the CC's, if you hear someone drop the words "Arby's Big Beef & Cheddar", maybe rewind and double-check what you heard!
