Listen to the indignancy in his thread's title. "[T]his sub needs to be more respectful to trans people." Ironically, demanding respect is one of the easiest ways to lose it. You don't get respect by stomping your feet and yelling, you earn respect. Even if that worked, that's not respect, that's authority, which is a completely different beast. Sadly, that's often how it goes with these Reddits who don't put up with people like Wedge: they get bombarded until an actual authority comes in and forces everyone to kowtow to the people causing the problem in the first place. The only real question is if Wedge is still too blinded by his impotent self-importance to try a second crack at this. I can only hope so.
O yeah definitely. There's actually more of Wedge's comments in the thread and they basically hide the ulterior motive of control and vassalization behind the saccharine and disingenuous "It's for the betterment of the community, all this 'hate' just divides people and drives them away!"
I would characterize it as a form of a motte-and-bailey tactic where the "bailey position" (i.e the real motive and purpose) is to change a community, throw out and ostracize people they don't like (critics of their axe wound cult), and provide a safe territory with which to groom impressionable kids who like anime. (e.g "see this character you like is gender-fluid too! don't you want to cut your dick off and come out to the troon ranch to be a no-pay farm-hand/prostitute now?)
If anyone criticizes their motives, tactics, or beliefs they simply default to the "motte position" of just wanting a "more welcoming place for everyone because the hate just drives fans away".
