KF Guide to Woke Games

Funny thing about Warframe and the trans character Ticker originally wasn't supposed to be 'trans'.

The devs called him a him and was more of a drag-queen type, mixed with a genuinely sad story of dehumanisation. He was literally a slave with body parts replaced so much that only his head was left and clinged to the concept of 'beauty' because there's nothing left for him and lead to his current identity. 'Sex' doesn't matter if you're just a head on life support. However the fanbase managed to force the devs into making him officially a troon.

I have quit this game long time ago because it's a grindy timesink where the updates were hyped for the sake of hypes while the real gameplay is the same boring grind just with a new 20 minute quest. The new updates are more and more nonsensical and trend-chasing each days. Especially after they introduced time travel, there's no coherency left in the story. Everything keeps contradicting itself and all is now excused with 'lol time travel'.

I played a game called Terra Nil that's a tile-based strategy game about reclaiming a desolate earth for nature. In short, the way you do this is by building renewable energy sources like windmills and geothermal plants, and then using filters to clean nearby soil before planting grass using irrigators, and then building on that base to grow various biomes like forests, wetlands, brushlands, tundra, and ocean habitats. The strategic part is planning how you're going to place buildings since each map has a gimmick you have to work around (like a volcanic caldera where you have to maneuver water and lava together to form rocks you can use to place windmills for power, or the ruins of a city which are contaminated by radioactive waste you have to contain before growing anything), and in order to complete a level you have to carefully manipulate the temperature and humidity in order to get certain things like moss to grow, or attract back migratory birds, or trigger the rain, which will also clean wasteland tiles for you. Additionally, as you clean the map, animals will start coming back, and in order to keep them happy you have to carefully lay out your biomes, since many animals may require access to multiple biomes (deer need green space to run around in, and fynbos for food, likewise wolves need forests to live in, but also require deer and boar nearby for food).

Oh, and once you've achieved every climate goal, cleaned the map, and set up a good living space for every animal, in order to complete the level you must pack up everything you've built, which is often easier said than done, since you do this with a drone that, depending on the map, can only travel via certain means (such as waterways, monorails, or by rock-mounted airbases).

The game is definitely environmentalist, and a portion of the game's profits are being donated to the Endangered Wildlife Trust (who to their credit, seem legit, unlike a lot of climate-grifting non-profits). However, it doesn't moralize; the disaster that destroyed the earth is never explained, and game's messaging is more about protecting habitats and the wildlife in them. In other words, old-school environmentalism before carbon emission hysteria took over the movement.

If you consider this woke, then it would be very Mild. Personally, I would give it a None.

As a game, I liked it a lot. It's a very cozy game, and not particularly challenging unless you deliberately make it so by increasing the difficulty. I gotta admit that while I may be as burned out with climate change hysteria as many of you, I still get an incredibly warm fuzzy feeling seeing a finished map, teeming with colors and life, unrecognizable from the desolate, lifeless wasteland it was when I started 30 minutes ago. Hell, the game even gives you an option to appreciate a map once you pack up and leave, so you can see the various animals living their lives out in the world you have created. If you're looking for a laid-back but satisfying puzzle-type game I can heartily recommend it.

I want to keep the rating system as simple as possible with some wiggle room, so the game simply gets a high Heavy rating.
Leave it with a Heavy rating, but give it the Ragnar Tørnquist Award for Exceptionalism in Delusional and Deranged Wokery.

While Terra Nil clearly tries to push a left leaning view on environmentalism, I agree that it shouldn't be considered woke. Woke can be nebulous as a term but this thread seems to have a rather solid idea of what "Woke" is, and I don't think Renewable energy simping really falls under that umbrella.

Game: Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster
Developer: Capcom
Score: Game still doesn't come out to examine all the changes so Pending, but it should be at least Medium/Mild
- Some characters got beaten with the ugly stick (even if they weren't lookers to begin with) and look 20 years older than they are.
- Erotica category for photos was removed for being "inappropiate for the situation".
- That also changes a mission where you had to get a high scoring photo of that category (IIRC you need a high scoring Outtake now), and will probably change another one where a survivor asked you to take photos of her posing.
- A skimpy black dress some zombies and a survivor wear was edited to remove the fishnets, but in exchange they covered the boobs.
- Psychopath Cliff Hudson (a Vietnam war veteran) doesn't call Frank "Viet Cong" and a communist anymore, instead going for "mole" and "filthy animal".
- Psychopath Larry Chiang's model was swapped from a creepy fat chink to a generic white male.
- Some stores got their names edited for some reason. For example, Estelle's Fine Lady Cosmetics was renamed to just Estelle's Fine Cosmetics, and Jamming Juvenile is changed to Jamming Junior.

I didn't see it posted here, but I just found out that the Demon's Souls Remake had a lot of wokery in it.

It was also just inferior as remake in general compared to the OG.
Of course, the redditors were ok with it, & anybody who was against this was just some sort of isto-phobe, whose comments gets deleted.

Demon's Souls remake changes are not just woke, but a lot of them are unnecessary and clearly designed to 'appeal the modern audience' that the game lost its uniqueness. EDIT: These were already covered in the videos but I put it down here to make it more clear. I didn't watch it before I post.

Wokeness wise, I wouldn't mind that the first character you see when you create a new character is black, that has always been part of Souls game with Julibant Catarina, there's also a homeland in Dark Souls 2 you can chose that looks black. - There are also a few Souls npcs who aren't white or Japanese (Straid of Olaphis, Rosabeth of Melfia and many other ambigiously brown characters). However the other bits - it's clearly forced to go with DEI standard because of the American studio.

Here are some other offense
The Fat Officer

fat.png
(Original Left, Remake Right)
Fat Officer and Tower Knight - In the original games the fat officers are demons who are designed to always be grinning and laughing and the bossfight music of Tower Knight is supposed to be a representation of that. In the remake, the turned the OST into a generic orchestra piece, because it doesn't seem 'serious' enough for modern taste, They also changed the fat officers into Left 4 Dead boomer knockoffs to go with the change. Fat guys with boils all over. such a creative character design.

Fool's Idol
fools.png
(Remake Left, Original right)
Now an American Idol... She looks like a generic goth witch. The point about Fool's Idol is that she is a doll created in the Queen's image to fool people into believing she's alive, and that the serene look of the original is part of the story. The new one doesn't really work. It feels like Bluepoint just want a visual shorthand to say, this is a boss, she has to look dark and evil.

I'm sure that the remake devs might be true believer in DEI, but I think you can't separate wokeness from social media era target demographic marketing. Wokeness always about playing safe and tempering the voices of the vocal crowds and to look good to game journalists. Other design aspects are about making casual audience liking your game. I think recently, perhaps due to algorithm, it seems like execs have pretty much found the formula to create 'likable but mediocre' media. The movies are good examples, the shittiest blockbusters of the 90s-2000s were much worse than today, but the good movies were much better... and look at modern Star Wars or Marvel movies, it's extremely predictable, the lighting and camera work has no 'wonkiness', it's set in the way that everything is bare minimum good looking and screenshot worthy and appealing to most people... but there's nothing memorable. The same is with gaming.

Soulash 2: Went from None to Mild.

The game is a sandbox rougelike RPG game by Polish dev Artur Smiarowski.

The game recently had an update with a legacy option where you can continue the game as the child or grandchild after death or retirement. When the usual suspects bitched about not adding faggotry in a medieval RPG & sodomy in a system designed to have off-springs, he understandably refused to add gay marriage in the most polite/diplomatic way possible.

This here is what set of the screeching horde of crybullies.
1000038725.png
Of course, he later had a hate campaign ran against him by these faggots, most of which unsurprisingly came from Reddit, mainly the r/roguelikes subreddit, in fact, they might be the biggest force against him. This said harassment also came in the for of these gaylords (emphasis on the gay) review-bombing the game.

Yet, Arthur stood firm against them, even when he was getting some bullshit practically unrelated to the game. However, it's not really a happy ending. In fact, it's the opposite. Mind you, he wasn't against gays then either, he actually said a lot of support from LGTVQHD4k+ groups, it's extremists both he & they are against.

So where does it all go wrong?

Now, here is where it goes Mild, Artur seems to have cucked out. He recently "addressed the controversy" (comments are filled with histrionic fags, troons, niggers, & troonniggerfaggots making it look like some victory of validation) in which he mentioned the articles by Niche Gamer & Bounding in Comics. A summary of the entire shebang by a polack Twitter user. And 2 videos by:

SmashJT
Preserve Tube

Super Virgin
Preserve Tube

He basically just lays down the white flag peace treaty of ending this shit show on his Twitter. That, & how he's in a more sane state after hugging his 7 y/o son & 4 y/o daughter good night. Hell, he even made a guide now on "how to be gay" in the game.

In fact, a fellow chud from this site Estate even bought the game & gave it a good review while admitting he might not even play it as much. Estate has now stated that he's deleting his review, refunding the game, & is embarrassed he even bought this due to culture war marketing.

The remake was an abomination. They killed the style and feel of the game. It was a huge selling point for the ps5 but god was it a good toneset for what was to follow.

Incorrect. Artur didn't make the guide, he just laughed at the creativity and linked it in his post. Either way, I'm not going to count it as Mild since you're modding the game to do something that isn't intended in the first place, and the list is focused on the games as is.
Ah my bad, I was both half-asleep & sleep-deprived when I wrote the whole thing.

Crossposting, but when asked about what successful games are woke, some had this to say in response.
If DE and DS are "woke" then so is Bioshock just for mocking lolbertarians. I'd say they're both politically left and critical of capitalism, but not particularly woke. DE might be at most "Mild" but is not obsessed with politics to the point of it marring the game, which is the "wokeness" people generally complain about.

The fan favorites consist of cops and a white boy who says homophobic slurs in every other line of dialogue. Yeah, DE was definitely leftist but it was interesting most of the characters weren't just strawmen.

I’m confused. How would death stranding be woke because it’s anti-authority? It seems being anti-authority is more of a right leaning position these days. I’ve never played the game so perhaps I need to “educate” myself on the plot, but I’m genuinely lost here.

That one got me to. I believe in there mind they, the left, is still fighting the far right. The thing about the woke types is that there are obsessed with being a victim and fighting there oppressors that they want to believe the entire system is against them. It is funny how they say the most government approved opinions (BLM, LGBT, feminism) but still think they are fighting against authority.
