🥝 Community KF Project Zomboid server - Discussion, suggestions and sperging

Count me in, I am not particularly good, have only played a couple of run throughs, never used a gun, never made a base, only lived in a house i found early.

But I would like to play multiplayer with you fine retards. Is there voice chat? Or is it all text in zomboid?
 
Can we mod it so that the zombies are all troons?

There is voice chat, but it is proximity-based. However, VC and text chat (using the /speak command) can carry over radio frequencies, so if you have a walkie talkie you can talk to your friend over it.

People commonly use discord but that's out of the question

You realize I'm talking about having my IP scraped if I talk kiwi shit in chat. I have to play games and talk online to faggots all the time, like right now with you. I just rather not deal with someone trying to cause shit for my real life like they're known to do.

If I wasn't going to talk about the farm ever on the server what's the actual point of playing on a kiwi farm PZ server? It would be no different than any other server, you fucking retard.

If you can help it, try to make sure the SteamScoreboard setting is set to 'false' on either the rented server or your own. Also turn off the displayUserName setting in the Players tab, too. That's all I can really think of besides maybe third-party tools or whatnot to determine your SteamID, or the admin giving someone else permissions.

That was the plan in game my man, what I was referring to was about the fact some games can let you see people's IP's who are connected. Even if you're not the server host.

I don't care if they're playing on the same server, can't avoid shit like that and it's not a big deal. Just don't want doxxing issues since the mentally ill are prone to going above and beyond to fuck with you via employers and the like.
 
The main problem we should all focus on for the time being is the IP issue and who is hosting.

I don't have the best internet but it's a stable one. Won't be able to support like 100+ players but a 30+ server could be handled easily with a performance mod (where in zombies not in your proximity are 2d shadows instead of 3d models, very useful). 50 players max but anything over 30 is pushing it (with mods included).

Now as you can see here, you can't view a players IP if you are the server host. But you CAN view SteamID. Now this isn't as horrible as doxing your exact location, however some people on this site won't take kindly to a internet stranger connecting their steam with their KF account.

My solution will take me 1 and a half months, so the entirety of this month then next month when my pay comes I can rent a 3rd party scala cube server.

That's like 40 players as opposed to Survival Servers that charge 8 players 10 bucks.

I never shilled for this site so I can shill out like 16 bucks. Mod support and I can't see your steam ID (I think, need to check this.)

Please do give own suggestions.
 
If the TF2 KF server is anything to go by, all we would need is some steam ID scrambler and to disable the 'Show Players' option in the pause menu and we'd be okay.
I had just assumed you'd all be playing on throwaway Steam accounts. Granted that would require a second purchase of the game.

If someone can confirm that this works for whatever server host they're using, then we can all just get a pirate copy of the game (besides the host of course) and connect no problem

HARD agree. Also, does a server wipe just remove buildings or your character too? If so, I'd suggest having double or triple XP. On vanilla settings it takes fucking forever to level anything.

PIRATED COPY of Project Zomboid (VERSION 41.78.16)! I'm currently running this server from Indifferent Broccoli, joining from a pirated copy and I can connect just fine. I used a dummy email and I get 2 days free, no credit card info.

There is no password. I'll keep it up for an hour

Someone from this thread joined from a pirated copy successfully, and was able to play smoothly with no issues whatsoever. Server is off now.

@Vibe_Guy I used https://indifferentbroccoli.com/project-zomboid-server-hosting, they allow a 2 day free trial without you needing to give any credit card info. It's around $16.99 a month from then on for 16 players.
I'll show how to turn the -Dzomboid.steam parameter off so pirate copies can connect. I'll also chip in some money through some means if the host needs it.

The thing is, adding mods to the server is going to be a complete pain in the fucking ass, but cross that bridge when we get to it.
