Can we mod it so that the zombies are all troons?
The official PZ discord banned me for calling a turk nigger, so I doubt they'd allow le hateful mods even if they are jokes. Shouldn't be too hard to make, its hard to keep it up on the workshop (lol)
@Vibe_Guy I used https://indifferentbroccoli.com/project-zomboid-server-hosting, they allow a 2 day free trial without
The most glaring problem here is player count and mod support. While yes, the free trial is neat, I fear it will wipe you once you don't renew services.

Valiant effort on your part, however I doubt it's a sustainable alternative.
I'll also chip in some money through some means if the host needs it.
I'll out of pocket fund the first month on scala cube and fund it for two more months (3 months total) guarantee without asking for pay. If all goes well and people seem to be having a good time I'll open a bitcoin wallet so people can chip in one or two bucks if they want. And I'll continue to pay as long as I am able to and life doesn't throw me a curve ball. (16 bucks isn't too much money even with bills. Its like 9 cartons of ciggarettes if you don't live in Norway)

The money will be used squarely for the server so if the money goes above 16 bucks needed then I'll close the wallet till next month or until the money is gone. The upper cap until the wallet closes will be 20 bucks (for server subscription and a sandwich)

Scala cube is a good service. I've used their free minecraft server hosting to play with a good friend and the service works awesome. The console lets me do admin commands, but I don't see IP or steam ID. Just his username he picked on pirated minecraft. Should be the same thing when you name your character in PZ.

If it worked for pirated minecraft, itll work for pirated PZ.

Is this shit live? I've never played Zomboid on MP and only played around with it a bit on SP amusingly after seeing the other thread on Project Zomboid here on KF. I just downloaded the project zomboid 41.78.16 download from igg games and I believe I got it running. I'd try it out with some fellow kiwis.

I can't vet the quality of these sites entirely as I've only used them sparingly but both seem fine with hosting mods that aren't allowed to exist on Nexus or Workshop.

Once again can't stress enough, Not giving these groups my thumb's up, don't know if there's degen shit in a corner of either of them or any sort of malware but from the few experiences I've had it seems fine. Could be useful to keep your mods up, but as always proceed with caution, cheers.

I would definitely boost XP. Leveling in PZ can be ass and if you plan on wiping the server every month then people with less time may not be able to get some skills they need.

Definitely the mod that lets you use the crowbar to open garages, I’m not trynna waste every ax I get knocking down garage doors at storage facilities.

There’s also a mod that allows you to put all your skill progressions into a journal. Once you die, you can go back to that journal, read it, and get your skills back.

I think someone mentioned Brita’s mod, but if I remember correctly, I think that mod has issues in general and in MP specifically (but don’t quote me on that).

Last time I played, I went guns heavy, but gun spawns are fairly rare, sometimes even in places they are meant to be (like a police station). I’d bump gun spawn rates up.

Defo will add a small barely noticable XP boost during daytime but boost it slightly during night time. The ammount of boost depens on the wipe date, so we will see how it pans out.

Reasoning is that night is dangerous when it comes to low visibility (PVP and PVE) and you'll have to adopt a night schedule for bonus XP. So you choose between safety and XP.

Thats a good mod I use singleplayer, however I've yet to see how it fairs in multiplayer.

I will see which weapon pack to use. For now I'm leaning towards vanila weapons expansion because theres less ammo variables which means better chances of finding guns+ammo and it supports a supressor mod where you can either craft good supressors with metalworking or use plastic bottles with tape (but it degrades faster)

Will make silencer drops considerably less likely to appear in containers and corpses because you can craft them (and if you can't? Skill issue idk)

If it works fine, I'll add it

What do you lot think about time decreases loot mod? On one hand, less sledge hammers and weapons/ammo. On the other hand, it encourages the usage of lesser used skills such as foraging, trapping, fishing, farming etc etc.
Also note: theres a supply cap. So if I set it to 30% then thats the ammount of loot that will be ever present even if you don't open a container.

And if you pick police or soldier with good foraging, spending a day foraging will yield you atleast one full pistol mag per day.

SERVER PAYMENT SPERGING
I'll pay and upkeep the scala cube server hosting for 30 players (its like 16 bucks per month, cheap and good service).

If theres alot of traffic and people ask to donate (if Null is fine with it) Then I'll open up and cap the BC wallet at 21 bucks, upgrade the server to 4gb ram 70 slots and pay whats missing in funds.

However you can expect me to always pay for the 30 slot server without any donos starting in a month and a half purely for the love of the game.

I like the time decreases loot but it also depends on how long between wipes. And also personally I'm impartial to any content mods all I ask is avoid anything that overwhelm's the loot tables since having to scroll past 20+ Vinyl's in every single container can get frustrating, which sucks because I've had fun with music mods in the past.

One of my favorite memories in this game was raiding a distant neighbor who built a really nice home in an apartment building. The server had the boombox mod with RL song addon's, I had one strapped to my back playing Tip Toe Through The Tulips out loud dragging the horde in while I sledge hammered his front door down. Ended up popping him with a shotty in a mad rush while they flooded the lower floors.

Would love more shit like that to happen, but it really does jank the loot tables sometimes. Just wanted to say cheers to you lads putting in the effort to set this shit up. Work schedule is maxxed as of late but this is definitely something I'll love to tag in on, cheers.

The Scala Cube 3rd party PZ server will be opening on January between the 10th and 20th.

30 player slots, steamID and IP is invisible to me and scala cube is legally forbidden to share this information.

Hope to see you!

For anyone extra paranoid about keeping themselves anonymous from the troon army: Steam Families settings allow you to share your Steam library games with other users (e.g., a new account you set up just for this).

Here's a guide: https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/054C-3167-DD7F-49D4

Combine that with a VPN and you should be good to go regardless of how safe Vibe_Guy's setup happens to be (you ARE using a VPN right now, aren't you?)

Bad news: due to company budget cuts where I work, a bunch of employees were temporarily let off. I was one of many. Heading to a job interview in a couple days but that unfortunately means I can't open the server on january like promised (gotta save le money💵💸💰💲)

Moving server opening date between the 10th-20th february.

Hope to see you :)

Holiday layoffs are very rough. Good luck and don't worry about it. It's just a game.
