The article very explicitly says "community males" multiple times, which, from my understanding, is an outlier of very poor and under- or uneducated people, who are often either convicted criminals and/or gang members.

I'm not sure why you're trying to defend pedophilia, of all things. Do you perhaps have something to share with the class?

May have something to do with associations between physical features and general intelligence/IQ (which is correlated with impulse control as well as likelihood of commiting a sex offense).
Either that or they are just too intimidated by adult women (or possibly have a conditioned fear of rejection due to past experiences) and are looking for someone less able to say no.
