To be fair, this was season 1-4 hank who was more openly conservative and angrier. I actually kind of prefer this hank and all the versions of the characters from those early seasons (especially dale, i hate how fucking weird they made him sometimes) even though I also like what they turned into for the middle seasons."pushy gal trying to get into the Citadel."
But hank definitely started having more "maybe the change isn't so bad" moments later on and that's unfortunately the hank a lot of people resonate with. Even though there were still just as many episodes that ended with "no, this is objectively retarded and i'm putting my foot down".
I agree hank would hate clown world, I was more pondering whether or not he would hate it enough to start compromising his principles of character (as so many of us have) in order to fight it, ie: vote for trump. I do think he would vote for trump even though he wouldn't like him much, i see trump as the right man in the right place at the right time, but he is a bit of a fuckhead. In a more sane america we shouldn't even be considering him for president, but a sane world we do not live in.
This is key really:
Hank will vote him and approve of him, but i don't see him wearing maga hats or shizoposting on twitter.Varying degrees of enthusiasm/media consumption
It's why i'm nervous about the new seasons, i love mike judge and trust him to do the right thing but he has a tightrope to walk. If hank goes to easy on clown world it will be seen as a surrender ceremony, but if the show goes too hard it might ruin it for a lot of people. The best option might be to largely avoid it and focus on the characters and small town vibe, which was always the show's strength.
KOTH had such an amazing light touch of seeing modern issues in a different way than was being talked about and coming to a conclusion that even if you don't agree with you see the sanity in.
