King of the hill appreciation thread - Yup.

Just finished season 14 (I was pacing it out).
Not gonna lie I actually really liked this season. I expected it to fail and was really worried after watching the first episode but the second one snaps back to the old format and it had some really funny moments. My torrent was a really early one so it was all in 720p anyway so it fits well with the other 13 seasons on my server. The only episodes I didn't really care for were the first one and the last one.

I hope it gets renewed for 15.

It already is, because they did a 20 episode order and split the episodes.

Here's more inconsistencies. In the episode with the black Japanese guy there's a German guy that's says Cotton Hill kill his grandfather. But Peggy figured out Cotton couldn't have have been on the eastern and western front. It was one or the other. So Cotton only killed Japanese soldiers.
iirc Cotton was confirmed to have fought at the Battle of Anzio, in Italy, before being transferred to the Pacific. He could have killed some Germans at Anzio.

Watching the new season. It's not bad, it's about as good as the later seasons.

I don't care about Lucky and I didn't like Luanne basically being poor white trash, we can do without that.

I don't like flanderized Peggy.

A lot of the jokes in the pilot made me actually fucking laugh, which is a rarity for me watching anything on the (((electric))). I'm definitely going to power thru the season.

Watching “Texas City Twister” I can’t get over how much of an asshole Hank is in the start of this episode. For all the well deserved Peggy Hill hatred she didn’t do anything wrong in the episode. Hank tells her to go to hell because she called him a “blockhead.” And while flipping over Luanne’s trailer they knock over a brand new trailer and flee the scene.

It’s great, all the characters are just funny. Excellent television.

Luanne's character from episode 1 was her being white trash. Her mom was literally in prison for stabbing her dad with a fork. That was the joke from the beginning of the series until the end when she married Lucky who slipped on pee pee at the Mega-lo-mart.

I think Peggy had the same issue as Dale where they honed in on one part of her personality, her being an insufferable egotist, and she did feel a bit like a stereotype of herself but overall I thought she was pretty funny and her characterization was mostly on point.

More like "I clapped because I recognized the thing!" than sloppin.

Honestly, this season was a 6/10 at best. There were some funny bits but it will never beat the early seasons or have the same heart that the show originally had as the Father/Son dynamic was given up mostly in favor of Hank and Bobby separately coming-to-terms with themselves and the modern world, which ultimately is not as memorable or enduring as the former. Although it was known they would force Bobby and Connie together based on the leaked storyboards for next season, them stretching out their arc for the entire season and entertaining the open relationship stuff makes me fear that Bobby will succumb to being a cuckold in next season. That boy deserves better.

You can't overstate how awful the voice of khan is. Jfc it's atrocious.
I think the funniest part is that the original voice was Toby Huss, a white guy, and the new worse voice is an actual asian guy.

That boy deserves better.
I hope the resolution is Bobby coming to the conclusion that he will never be able to go back to when they were 12 and he should move on.
Also bobby is not cucked. He has sex now.

I think that resolution was for the purpose of starting Bobby and Connie's relationship fresh for next season without the baggage that comes from previous seasons based on how they left things off with them talking about their new interests in the hospital. I hope that the open relationship stuff is forever dropped like it was after Chane dumped Connie for the sake of a redemption arc for Connie next season but I have my doubts.
