It sucks, and you're right to be worried. It reminds me of the late 2000s, early 2010s when Encyclopedia Dramatica was at its peak, and everyone was just a dick all the time. What scares me is the idea that an entire generation of viewers has only understood "lolcows" as internet dunk tanks. Some contemptible thing gets propped up so people can insult it and pay money for a chance to get them riled up. I can't get into the majority of people being recommended to me because the whole premise is that they're vile and the internet needs to punish them.
People see "Lolcow Live" with Boogie and Wings, and they see them (and chrischan) as the epitome of the word, so they assume everyone with that label has to be the same. Wings being weird about child marriage (I don't know a lot about Wings), and Boogie for...a lot (cancer, mostly). The entire Geno Samuel series has people convinced they know Chris's story, but they have entirely preconceived notions on what the kiwifarms does (the evil harassing site...that doesn't allow harassing).
Every example is just someone who does bad things. Does Cobes have a bad thing? Sure, Puff wasn't great pet ownership, but that's the worst thing he's done in my opinion, and he regrets it! And the fuckin alogs and weens and troles piss me off, because they can't accept that he feels remorse for it!
Back in my day, a lolcow was just someone who occasionally freaked out, who maybe got a little bit trolled (and I mean work went in to the trolling, not a drive-by message saying Josh burnt the bacon), and otherwise produced amusing content. And I'm worried those days are over. I'm worried these new-age lolcow fans will find someone as harmless as Ulillillia, and ruin them for no other reason than amusement.
Sorry for rambling, it's just something I've also noticed, and it PISSES ME OFF!
