The Boy is a cautionary tale on why we don’t over indulge and have social guardrails taught when we are young. It sounds great to sit around and get smashed all day, eating fast food until you see Cobes getting fat and falling over drunk. He does everything you are told to be careful about because it will fuck you up in the long run.
I think a lot of his draw is seeing this play out, and for some of us, seeing how our past actions could have ended up.
His channel is basically showing us how crazy homeless people are made
I think about exactly that all the time. I think with most people, they just realize, they have to drop some of their vices at some point. Take things in moderation. Cobra wants to keep going, maybe because he needs it to counteract his "depression", maybe cause he doesn't want to pop his comfort bubble. And if someone tries to help him, he gets offended that someone would dare to tell him what to do. Whether that's Daddy Nips or his "troles". You have someone, who is spiraling completely out of control and doesn't want it to stop, makes it actively worse as much as he can, is almost entirely ignorant of how fucked up he is at this point and every time someone tries to help, he either ignores it or makes it even worse to spite the person.
Like on that DP stream when Ben carefully asked about his liver and kidney pain, "you maybe wanna see a doctor about that?" Cobra just goes "nah I'm just gonna cut back on my drinking". Something he has been saying a lot over the last years, but fails to achieve. He has been laying off the booze for short periods of time, but not in a lasting way, and to be honest, the only way he could achieve that would probably be by quitting alcohol altogether, which I doubt he will ever do. But Ben had to be extremely careful with how he phrased that, because if Cobes feels that someone is trying to tell him what to do he'll be like "fuck you, I do what I want" and punch his kidney and liver to spite him.
It reminded me of when he said he's not gonna do anything about his teeth brushing habits, or lack thereof, he's just gonna cut back on sugar. Then he says things like, "I know I need to brush my teeth more", when the two incisors are already visibly rotten. As if brushing his teeth more could reverse that. Nobody ever says I need to brush my teeth more, at least no sane person, because most people know they have to do it regularly and therefore just do it daily. I never understood people who let their teeth decay like that. Even celebrities seem to have issues with that. Johnny Depp apparently doesn't brush his teeth and Jessica Simpson said she only does it every couple of days, cause she doesn't like it when her teeth feel smooth. She uses mouthwash against the smell. I have the opposite problem. I hate it when my teeth have plaque on them. And I honestly can not imagine Cobes doesn't stink to high heaven when you come close to him, with his no teethbrushing mentality and his rotten teeth.
But maybe if he did certain things, that could help with his depression as well. Like a lot of people feel depressed when they don't have a real job, because their self-worth drops. And when they get some job, no matter how small it is, they feel better about it. Like they are an important part of society and not just some useless bum. Cobra is very isolated nowadays as well. He's not very antisocial, he always had friends. But he stays at home now because it's easier and cheaper to get drunk at home. But you couldn't suggest anything because of his opulence infetterance disorder, he would just laugh like a maniac and brag about how kickass his internet rockstar life is, how you must be jealous of him, when just minutes before that he was talking about how an argument with his dad plunged him into deep depression, to the point of wanting to kill himself. It must be hard for Clint, because he literally has to watch this retard do everything wrong, knowing that any help he offers would only make it worse. I can't blame him if he gave up at this point. Some people are destined to fail.
