Watching old Cobra videos and compilations got me thinking about Casper, WY and its people.

Josh mentioned encountering "cute goth chicks" around town fairly often -- or at least far more often than I see adults who could be considered "goth" out in the wild.
Is the gothic subculture more prevalent in Casper than elsewhere? It's possible - Ellen certainly fit the "goth" type.
Or did Josh just use the word "goth" to mean "cool"? His own style was an eclectic mixture of all sorts of things and not stereotypically "gothic", but he always passionately self-identified as "goth". Maybe anything he liked, he called "goth".

Similarly, he often recalled antagonistic confrontations he had with other Casperites -- people harassing him seemingly out of the blue.
Are the townsfolk really so inclined to interact negatively with eccentric individuals like Josh? Personally, if I were to see someone who looked and acted like him, I'd give that person a wide berth because I don't know what they might be capable of, but do most people not think like that?
Or did Josh have a reputation around town as the harmless town weirdo who was fun to tease?
Or were many of these interactions simply imagined or exaggerated?

casper is thought of as a tiny hick middle of nowhere town by us but its a city in reality.

im sure there are plenty of goths in early-mid 2010's casper

im also sure he exaggerated or thought girls in black or whatever were goth when they weren't.

Any girl with piercings or black hair was goth to Josh.

There’s a scene in the trapped documentary where some random guy driving past Josh calls him a faggot.

Damn, that's a bummer. I was joking about the boglim website with someone just last weekend because apparently a semi-infamous guy from the old sub looked to be the last man standing, randomly posting something every 3-4 weeks. Was weird to see him doing his usual talking points in an empty void. I will always respect the webmaster for creating a space NAL couldn't touch when she was still riding the high of taking out several youtube channels and (presumably) the subreddit.

I honestly thought the site would gain more traction, but lol the refugees went to facebook or other subreddits that kept getting shut down. I think I remember some guys wandering in here but they didn't last long. The facebook group must have the highest concentration of a-logs anywhere, though I'd hope they've moved on now that they no longer need to wring their hands and wish death upon some autistic weirdo.

Now I know you're wondering, did Josh really make a prop for this gothic photoshoot? I too was looking for the high quality craftsmanship that only the dark Lord could have made, but alas I checked the back of the magazine and saw that it was credited to one "Samuel Hawthorne."

Late, but that’s not Jord’s handwriting on the note at all.

The person who made the wand probably sent the magazine to Josh as a gift, with the note indicating that they made the wand on page 63 tucked inside or whatever. Now we know the name of a ween who sent a package, I guess lol.

According to his father he suffered from auditory hallucinations, so he probably imagined a lot of those verbal encounters.

It would also explain his "This sexy gothic bad boy smells really good" stories.

That's one of the incidents that I was thinking of. The more I think about it, the stranger it seems. Screaming slurs at strangers out a car window is bizarre antisocial behavior -- worse than anything Josh himself ever did. I know there are weirdos and sickos out there, but I'd expect encounters like that to be a rare exception -- not a regular occurrence. It's puzzling to me that they seemed to happen to Josh all the time.

Both Clint and his grandparents said that he used to get harassed all of the time. I can't remember if it was in the YFS documentary or Clint's Celebration of Life that there was some guy talking to Josh outside of the bathroom and he overheard that the guy was just berating him.

Josh was an obviously strange autistic weirdo, sure, but it's only polite society which doesn't torment others. Plenty of assholes in dead end towns with nothing better to do than to continue life as the school bully- decades later. Being that Josh was somewhat of a well know character likely lent to more abuse than less- at least for the last decade of his life.
