They distrust each other at first, but they slowly warm up and get to know each other. After that they adopt a Belgian Malinois who they care for together. They unconditionally love each other and both of them are ready to sacrifice themselves just to save the other. The show makes a few gay jokes about them but doesn't overuse these moments. Jonathan Nolan wrote an utterly heartwarming slash story without making the leads explicitly gay or turning one of them into a flamboyant bottom faggot. Even in the fanfics the question of who is topping and who is bottoming is a coin flip. It speaks volumes about how compelling and unconventional this pairing is, compared to e.g. Jayvik where it's clear that one is a manly man top and the other is a girly pooner bottom.

Red9 is solid. Carried my pistol only runs when I didn't have any flash nades to nuke the plagas. Punisher is kinda gimmicky imo. Penetration with it is useful against sheild-carrying folk but that's about it. First shotgun and rifle also get nice endcap buffs.
