They both are too broad to really scrutinize further than most will bother to, Kiwifarms is a drama site at its core with non-PC tendencies, Tumblr and Reddit have eons of other much more well known uses, and content that toes the party line and often encourages the message

I would say it's not even some kind of conspiracy, but the simple fact is this site doesn't lend itself to having any friends or allies.
The site documents every community, hobby, group, is openly racist/sexist/homophobic, filled with gender wars, and the voice of the site is Null who isn't exactly likeable.
There is no incentive or benefit to ever actively support or defend the site if you aren't a major user and contributor to it.

Reddit is going to obviously have the opposite circumstance where someone has probably used the site once in their life and probably didn't have an extremely negative experience of they used it casually or a long time ago.

The Farms also attract a lot of Negative Nancy types. Sometimes that's good since a lot of lolcows deserve to be criticized, but other times it turns into player hating. So even though this site does a pretty good job at source citations and summarizations, it lacks respectability.

I used to browse the gaming board a lot, but basically every thread in there is about how gay games are these days, how every new release is terrible, and about how things were better twenty years ago. I mean you know its silly when people are bitching that there are too many black people in Vice City, a copy of Miami, which like any city in the south has a large population of black people.

It doesn't really matter if its games, or the Internet in general, or lolcows, eventually you just gotta take a break from every single person you read about assuming the absolute worst in everyone and everything all the time.

Maybe it's a greater sign of being lost, no more childhood wonder or it's just easier to join the hate mob then actually engage in something enjoyable but it definitely feels like everyone has become far more negative so they can go back to their circle jerk about how things suck now.

Recommending something you watched, but don't like to someone is one thing but yeah recommending something you never seen is dumb.
I imagine it wouldn't be hard to get someone to watch Kite though because you can just say it's a cult classic that Quentin Tarantino likes. Kite is very known to be violent, depressing, and having rape so it's odd that one would not know it's popularity or it's infamy. Personally I don't like Kite and wouldn't recommend it to the vast majority of people.
