It's not that deep bro. The reason why you get female representations of these is because they're made by lonely men for lonely men. You know what sailors and 4channers have in common? They don't see women for extensive amounts of time.
I think the only times I've ever been convinced of a character having natural green hair was when it was a darker and muted shade of green if someone really wanted to make a more realistic versionIt's only danger hair if it's artificial, I imagined her lime green hair being naturally green, like anime girls sometimes do. Plus her hair was made green with the big cowlick to resemble the Farms logo, no matter what she's wearing she's got the logo! If the kiwi is only an accessory or on her clothes, it's less integral to her.
Oddly with animated characters that just have green hair I've just associated the darker green with more brown-adjacent and the light green as more lighter brown or blonde. Never really thought of any of the ones that there's no dye present as dyed cause it ain't real.

This is a common trope but really doesn't explain the entire social phenomena. We are getting a tad off topic here, but the fundamental reason of the feminine being personified for communities be they a nation, an institution or a ship, is because the feminine is the part of humanity responsible for social cohesion.
