Dominions 6 is a 4X game made by Illwinter, it's release is Wednesday, January 17.

Shit I remember this was coming out soon but its already in two days? I have been waiting for this game. Never played MP but I have played single player games here and there since Dom4, although I don't think I even really got a decent grasp of all the various mechanics until well into Dom5.

I'm curious to see what nations get added, how they change bless/pretender balance, what new mechanics they introduce, but most of all I'm looking forward to UI and quality-of-life improvements. The games are very cool but they kind of suck to play. The change from 4 to 5 was huge in terms of playability.

Some of my most recent games were a MA Marignon one where I ran with an awake expander boar pretender with earth and water magic so it would have high prot and could quicken. I also did an EA Sauromatia game with an imprisoned rainbow enchantress. The sacred lizard cav Sauro gets take a rainbow bless extremely well and are strong all around. I hate all elven nations with a passion though, and that one underwater ghost nation can fuck off as well.

I really love the late-game, though, that's where the game really shines. Once you have done enough research and forged enough boosters to do crazy things like summoning tarasks, gift-of-reason them and then give them regen and flight items and send them solo raiding, only to have them get charmed because they still have animal MR. As much as the game is a grand strat its also very sandboxy in terms of how wide open it is for players to experiment and do interesting things, even if certain strategies are going to be more consistently strong.

I'm gonna try to find it for you, I've watched Lucid Tacitics and Das Tactic play some, so we already know the new ones, but Illwinter has not updated the Wiki.

I got some free time coming up soon and I had my eye on the series for awhile. Any good youtube channels for someone who has never played before?

Unfortunately DasTactic has privated his tutorials for Dom 5, but I'd recommend Lucid Tactics or Attica for learning

Do be mindful about your choice in music volume slider position. The music is wonderful, but once it gets entwined with the emotion and thought of a several month long multiplayer match it takes on a whole different level of emotional baggage.

I was thinking about Matrix?
You can delete your regristration email off your matrix account.
It seems like a safe way for people to congregate without doxing themselves.

And I think any kiwi who would bother to get Matrix up and running can probably use some discretion as an adult and not give away their personal info.

lol I don't think we have to be in the game at the same time to play together, so I don't think there's any opportunity for such a thing.

I was thinking like a specific room per game on matrix or something, and a timer to complete turns.
We don't email the game file to each other like you do on Age of Wonders, it's to the multiplayer service IIRC.
I'd have to look into it if there's actually some real interest.
