We don't email the game file to each other like you do on Age of Wonders, it's to the multiplayer service IIRC.

NAPs are built into the game now too

I'm surprised this place doesn't have a thriving dominions community, that game is autism++. That being said - if we have enough people for a game, I'll likely join.

"Accidentally" bumping one of your neighbor's early armies during expansion is a legitimate strategy.

To be completely honest, I never really liked all the nice happy fun times diplo shit, except for the basic premise of being able to conduct fair trades. In part due to the general philosophy of the game not really aligning with it: All those other players are heretics of the highest order, and you're a god anyway so treaties have no authority over you. However, mostly I don't like the whole NAP thing because I don't see them as particularly necessary within the game. Turn 1 of a proper war with someone is rarely a devastating event in a way that turn -3 of a war wouldn't be. The nature of how research and recruitment happen in Dom facilitates quick rallying of emergency defense forces, and the rather slow speed of offensive actions dulls the immediate damage, so the difference ends up being only the matter of an out of position main army which makes for much more dynamic and interesting situations.

The statement "I'm not inclined to eat you yet" is as much of an NAP as I'm usually willing to commit to, and it is also about as much as I'm willing to see in the offers from others. That said, I have played some oddly peaceful matches before, in games that even stated that non-trade pacts are unenforced. EA seems particularly prone to it, as the lack of indie scouts makes opponents look like more of a threat than they actually are.

Aww shit a Dom thread. I've talked about trying to host a Dom5 game and shilling it here with a friend before, but decided against it since I can't imagine too many playing. Good to see a thread. I for one am excited to see how I can break the game before it gets patched.

Also what was your favorite nation in Dom5 and what Era? For me its:
EA: Pangea
MA: Na'Ba
LA: Pangea

Wondering how much glamour will affect Na'Ba as a nation considering their big mages and sacreds had glamour by default.

Oh I'm not that experienced, I started playing Dom 5 after Christmas, and fell in love.
But I play Shadow Empire and I'm a big Age of Wonders stan so this is just like... the perfect game. lol
But so far, even though they aren't great, I really like

YOMI, ONI KINGS.

The mechanics are so cool, where depending on where you build your temples, summons different Oni, and your only priest are the Demon Priests.
I wanna roll high turmoil Oni, but good scales aside from turmoil/order, probably can't afford bless, maybe go for new glamour magic school + construction first research wise and start thugging on niggers

I am EXTREMELY happy to see Asphodel finally gets some love. This change alone will make them playable at the very least. Their Dryads also have access to glamour.

The game is out and 15% off until 2024-01-24. This will likely be the only sale for a long time. I never saw Illwinter offer a discount for Dom5 post release.

If you accidentally bought it before the sale, just use the "price is different" button on the refund thing.

It looks like they're giving people their 6 dollars back

These are my favorite reviews. Most of my learning experience is getting my ass kicked by other players. Not like you have to read the whole manual anyway, just when you want to learn the depths of a mechanic. Honestly I think having no tutorial is a good filter.

So far the game is good. I welcome most of the changes so far. I especially like that the other paths of magic got some love like air and nature. The changes to scales and blesses is also a welcome, and feels like the devs are trying to lean you towards a thematic god. The addition of lobbies for multiplayer is also a huge plus. Think my biggest grip is the UI changes, which is kinda ass with some exceptions here and there. Music isnt as good as Dominions 5 either.
