I was reminded in the latest MATI episode that a few months ago this site came together to organize the very first Kiwi Farms Game Jam. This got me thinking of all the community threads on the American Comics and Cartoons Industry (ComicsGate included) as well as Multimedia or Art and Literature threads of people taking the piss out of badly made art. Specifically of all the instances of users talking about how they would improve this work or even make better art than the subjects of mockery. So, what's stopping us from coming together to do exactly that? I think us art Kiwis should join up and make some comics, just like the coding and gamer Kiwis did.

I think it would be really cool when by the end of the jam we compile all the comics pages together into a digital zine and we release them here for everyone to read for free. I intend to discuss the details of how we should organize this here before making a proper Comics Jam thread and executing this project.

Details like, what should the theme of the Comic Jam be? Should the theme be more lolcow-oriented, or more generic? What is the page limit per entry? How long should Kiwis be given to submit their works? And anything else logistically that I haven't mentioned here.

I hope we can make something awesome together.

Yeah I'd do something

Id love to contribute. I tried to organize my own zine a while ago but literally nobody I asked to make something submitted fuckin anything.

Sorry to hear that @Dr. Ricearoni , I have experienced trouble like that myself years ago when I was less experienced in making comics.
And to @Chimplord1997 that caricature art looks amazing and I would love to have just a caricature section in the zine with your work.
In any case I am happy to include your works in the final zine. Do you guys have any suggestions as to how we can make this work?

I've been thinking of presenting the final results in the style of Shonen Jump or Mad... Get mini interview segments and Behind the Scenes looks at how Kiwis produce their comics, that type of deal.
Really appreciate seeing your replies. Can't wait to see how this whole project turns out.

I am in. I am a pro artist, will work under a pseudonym obviously. I would prefer something short, four pages if anyone has any concepts they wanna suggest, we could work together.

So far as themes, we could do either like life lessons learned from watching 'tards or something. Something that could be atleast somewhat interesting to people outside of this weird, weird, place.

We could set it up on a print on demand site for physical copies and get the money (if any, it IS comics lol) to Null.

Having got my start on big collaborative anthologies and the like, something crucial is having a banged out, thought out submission requirements; theme, story page lengths (should be multiples of 4, ideally), progessive deadlines (i.e. submission deadline, art deadline, etc.) All should be FAR in the future, comics take forever, content guidelines rules (you dont want someone slaving away on something that would never be included, etc)

All of that is to say, if you need a project lead, I am game. Other roles such as Editor will be necessary to begin to work on guidelines.

I could 200% commit to a four pager if given enough lead time.

You may be interested in editing the OP to have a vote polling if users would participate. I believe a moderator can do that if the option’s expired via reporting your own post and asking for a poll to be added.

I would personally participate for giggles - it would be an awfully trashy amateur yet spirited submission!

The site’s SFW. May NSFW submissions, if allowed, be segregated to the back of the bus?

I would find it funny if faux articles, interviews (Of who? Maybe why @grok wants to rape Will Stancil), and ADs for privacy or archival tools were before and after the comics.
Having read old Playboys for giggles, some of the anti-war articles captured a spirit of the age.

There is a gay pedophile at the gates. Beware of PDFs.

You may want to figure a general style guide of some sort depending on how these are compiled and formatted.

Ok I am just going to make this clear before we proceed for those with the belief that they need to gatekeep themselves from participating, just because you believe your art is trash; there's no need to, I am not asking for every entry to be a masterpiece. I find that mindset to be detrimental to actually getting comics done.

To those who think their art skills are not good enough to get them in, I say you should play to your strengths. Use what you can illustrate comfortably to tell a story. That's what comics are for anyway. I would be more concerned about issues with time commitment to this project. Like work or personal life. That should matter more to those considering participation, not "i can't join this thing because i can only draw stickmen". I hope I've made myself clear with this because I want people to break out their comfort zone and make comics.

Hey Mr Jung, I will be grateful if you could work with me for this project for the next few months. I agree a theme will be very important for this zine. What about tales involving the iconic Kiwi of Kiwi Farms? Like have different genres or styles of comics with the commonality being the appearance of a Kiwi across all entries to tie it all together. A Kiwi is also relatively easy to draw - which I feel can give less experienced artists some confidence and take away stress with creating stories for the zine.

I am also thinking of setting up different threads for the Comic Jam, one for general announcements like what this Jam's theme is, the overall timelines etc. Then a separate thread where Kiwis can check in every week to share the progress on their works, like How's Your Webcomic? on 4chan's /co/ board.

In any case, I appreciate you all for engaging... :heart-full:

PS: @Happy Little War Painter I would rather everyone who participates create a new comic for the zine. Is that fine with you?

PS PS: Will add a poll to gauge interests, thank you @Orphaned Punk

What is your stance on AI art?
Will I get crucified by autistic art fags for even suggesting it?
I wouldn't crucify you, AI to me is just another artistic tool, I just ask of you to use it to its fullest potential and actually try to make art with it.
I've always wanted to write a comic, count me in.
Interesting, maybe I can allow teams to be created for multiple Kiwis to produce one comic.

BTW Poll has been created, pls voote.

I’d contribute. Give us a theme or a thing to adapt. Take the Sonichu Fan Jams for example.
