Okay, I wanted to run an interest check for a play by post game of the classic pen and paper RPG, Call of Cthulhu. The rules are simple:

If you're interested, respond to the thread. There are five slots available.

For plot purposes, one character should be fairly wealthy (or at least have rich parents s/he can mooch off of and live with).

The time and place is 1925, Outer Boston.

Death is permanent. No sticking in a new character.

I'll link you a copy of the rulebook when you sign up. We'll be using 5th/6th edition

When I update the tread, you have 24 hours to respond. If you do not, your turn is skipped.

We're using a published adventure, so we have a definite "start and finish" point.

And, lastly, we're in Old School Roleplaying Mode here. I get free reign to be an asshole to your characters. I won't pull any "Cthulhu randomly shows up and kills you" BS, but I will actively try to make things hard.

I dont know if you are still interested in this but I am game.

I'm in. Never played CoC but always interested in trying something new

If this is still happening I would like a shot at playing. I've nerded out with D&D but never CoC. I want to see how my sanity would hold up.

Augh yeah, is it too late for me to join in?

If not I'm cool to wait for someone to die. Is it a different edition to the one we used before?

I'd like to reserve a spot to fill in for when someone dies.

Oh, no, sorry to disappoint but I'm busy with other stuff. Running a D&D 3.5 game at the moment with some other Kiwis. We currently have 7 players, and the absolute max is 8...

I'd be down to join if it wouldn't strain the campaign. Let me know, please.

It's a fairly relaxed dungeon crawler, we meet up on Discord around 5:30 EST on fridays. Our current roster is:

Sofie LaBelf, a CE elvish Fighter.
Gworf the Dwarf, a Dwaven divine Bard.
Harambette, a NE Hadozee Illusionist.
Trogdar, a Neanderthal Barbarian.
Adelf Hiotler, an Elven Wizard.
Nichophous, a Tiefling Monk who gets greased up and homo-erotically wrestles people to death.
And SunBro (forgot his name), a Aasimer Cleric.

If you think you can fill a role in this party, you're welcome to join.

im currently at work, but I'll check my PDFs later on tonight when I get home to throw something together, if that's okay.

ETA: I would be able to make it around 6 on Fridays.

Send me a pm if enough people want to play. I just signed on for a D&D campaign but wouldn't mind doing a CoC as well.

I could pull out Cathulhu

There's also Sparks of Light, one of the worst written RPG's I've seen in awhile.

I'm good if it's a 1-off. I'm already in a bunch of stuff.

I wont mind if players want to play a character that wont be around often. Chicago in the 1920's wasn't a safe time and people were moving around to try and make money. I would prefer a more constant game though. Just keep your character around if he/she survives the first game to return at a later date.

I'll start writing out the concept of the game this weekend and I'll post about it on a new thread. It will mostly be about what's happening in the city. Once there's minimum of four players I'll flesh out the game more.

One thing I ask for is written background of your character (at least a paragraph) and a phobia. If I have to randomize one for someone...Well let's just say you don't want that...

There are now three people interested in a CoC game and one other person interest in a one shot so I'll start working on the campaign this week. I should be done by Saturday.

If those interest in the game could you send me a background for your character. Campaign is taking place in Chicago in 1923. This way I can add it to the beginning of the campaign.
