Applied another fix for error handling CQL lookups. I don't know exactly what causes the database to return an empty table when there's actually results, and I cannot reproduce it locally. However I fleshed out the error handling logic branches a bit more to see and catch it gracefully without impacting UX.

I'm very emboldened after yesterday. It feels like the attack stopped almost immediately after I applied a few easy tweaks. Eventually I'll need to get real logging set up, but I don't have very good logging because it's antithetical to my "wipe everything and reinstall it fresh" ethos that lets me completely reconfigure our entire stack in a few hours even if everything goes down.

Intermittently getting some issues on mobile (iOS, chromium based browser). Nothing that isn’t fixed by refreshing a couple of times. The pattern is usually something like a 503 error, then the Kiwifarms is down page, then the page will load but the UX doesn’t completely load (it looks like browsing the web without CSS), then it loads but without images/reactions and the “Oops, something went wrong” when trying to interact, then finally everything is good for a while. Only a couple of instances of Kiwiflare looping and they were for a few seconds at most. I’ll try to make a mental note of how often and for how long this happens, but I’ve internalized the L of being a zoomer phoneposter and take what I can get.

all of that is gone, it has been very smooth for about 2 days now
the resolving and reloading is also really fast again, thanks null!
 
Is there a DDOS attack on still? The site is loading at the speed of an unusually fast rocket for me.

KiwiFlare is activating more frequently for me, but it's much more tolerable than when it was broken the other day. The banner currently says "Very large DDoS attack ongoing" so I think we should defer to that.

The funniest part is that the latest version of KiwiFlare (when it was first rolled out and before it was tweaked) did a better job of making the Farms unusable than the current DDoS.
