Kobe Bryant killed in helicopter crash

Kobe Bryant died in a helicoper crash in Calabasas Sunday morning ... TMZ Sports has confirmed.

Kobe was traveling with at least 3 other people in his private helicopter when it went down. A fire broke out. Emergency personnel responded, but nobody on board survived. 5 people are confirmed dead. We're told Vanessa Bryant was not among those on board.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Thanks to all the shitposting on this thread I now have the mental image of the Lakers coming on to the court to the sound of Ice Cube announcing "...the Los Angeles NIGGASSSSSSS"

The BBC apologising for not being able to tell one black guy on a basketball court from another is hilarious though

Sorry if someone already mentionned it, that journalist who posted the rape case of Koby Bryant just after his death was suspended. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...g-link-story-Kobe-Bryants-rape-case-2003.html
A Washington Post journalist has been suspended by the newspaper after she tweeted a link on Sunday to a years-old story about the Kobe Bryant rape case just hours after the basketball legend and his daughter were killed in a helicopter crash.

Felicia Sonmez, who covers national politics for the Post, took to Twitter shortly after the world learned of Bryant’s death along with eight others aboard his private helicopter which crashed outside of Los Angeles.

She posted a link to an April 2016 story from the news site The Daily Beast which carried the headline: ‘Kobe Bryant’s Disturbing Rape Case: The DNA Evidence, the Accuser’s Story, and the Half-Confession.’

The tweet generated hundreds of shares and thousands of likes as well as many comments.

‘To the 10,000 people (literally) who have commented and emailed me with abuse and death threats, please take a moment and read the story - which was written 3+ years ago, and not by me.

‘Any public figure is worth remembering in their totality even if that public figure is beloved and that totality unsettling.’

Sonmez continued: ‘That folks are responding with rage and threats toward me (someone who didn’t even write the piece but found it well-reported) speaks volumes about the pressure people come under to stay silent in these cases.’

In another follow-up tweet, Sonmez wrote: ‘As an addendum: Hard to see what’s accomplished by messages such as these.

‘If your response to a news article is to resort to harassment and intimidation of journalists, you might want to consider that your behavior says more about you than the person you’re targeting.’

Sonmez deleted the tweets due to the overwhelming backlash, but others on Twitter screengrabbed the posts and responded with disgust.

Think of the rape survivors having to hear about Kobe in the news!!

I just feel like social media has caused people to be brought up in an environment that lacks basic respect towards the departed. He was accused of rape. Not tried, convicted and sentenced. Even the three ring circus that was the Ted Bundy deathwatch was a bit too much. But at least he deserved to die and was actually very much guilty.

Think of rape survivors that never met Kobe! But don't think of his loved ones still dealing with his death. He has several other children. Two of which are so young they will likely never remember their father when they grow up.

Slow your roll people. Ever hear of too soon? There was a time when people would smack you upside the head for acting like this.

There's a lot of people out there who just see a big time celebrity death as a way to put the focus on their own tweets and blue checkmarks. Your mama should whup your ass. Y'all need Jesus.

If you don't care, don't post. / Mad on the online.
Why are people acting like some overpaid retarded dying is some world ending catastrophe? He was a dindu, a leftist, and contributed nothing of value to society. Go cry to your wife's boyfriend you faggots.

This is more evidence that helicopters are cursed when it comes to celebrities. So many celebrities seem to meet their end by helicopter crashes - usually a result of them being the pilot while also being incredibly inexperienced and/or incompetent.

Sadly, others jumped on that occasion to discuss of conspiracies theories about Kobe's death. *sigh*

Conspiracy theorists immediately took advantage of Kobe Bryant’s death on Sunday after the legendary basketball star was involved in a helicopter crash.

The 41-year-old and eight others passed away, TMZ reported, after an accident involving the athlete’s private helicopter in the California city of Calabasas.

While sports fans mourned Bryant’s passing, conspiracy theorists online latched onto the tragedy as proof of their distorted beliefs.

Specifically, adherents of the QAnon conspiracy, which claims that a secret government entity known as “Q” is aiding President Donald Trump in dismantling the “deep state,” began concocting theories surrounding Bryant’s passing.

The group, which has been tied to numerous instances of violence and deemed a potential domestic terror threat by the FBI, has even suggested that Bryant’s death may have been intentional in an effort to distract the public from the impeachment trial against the president.

“Kobe’s death would definitely overshadow the impeachment trial,” Twitter user @XanderHamiltQn said alongside numerous Q-related hashtags.

I am a rape victim, sexual assualt survivor, and IDGAF about the Kobe Bryant case.

Because his accuser took the money.

If what you want is justice, you will never get that, because no court in the land can un-rape you and make everything okay. If what you want is formal justice from the criminal justice system, you endure the process (and I will never shit on anyone for saying they don't want to do that, it is horrendous, and if you would rather just walk away and work on your own therapy and life, you have my 100% support) and you testify in court.

She refused to testify the week beforehand in return for a settlement of civil suit. A settlement. Not even a hearing of the facts in the civil suit, a fat cheque full of NBA baller money to go the fuck away and stop talking about it.

She continued to make use of her right to anonymity whilst communicating with the press during this time. You have the right to anonymity so that people don't know that you are the one having your reputation traduced. So that you can pretend to the outside world you are not involved. If you want trial by media, don't hide behind the privacy the criminal justice system gives you.

She dod not want the facts established or Bryant punished, because she was a week away from trial when she collapsed the prosecution case. She then settled the civil suit without a shot ever being fired. There was no "day in court". There was no "facing the accuser".

There was a big fucking cheque to keep her mouth shut.

So I don't care if he did it or not, and I don't care about "justice" and "truth" for his accuser, because she sold her right to get justice and truth. Dollars are nothing compared to vindication.

You can add Davey Allison and Colin McRae to that list as well.
