Let's give him the benefit of the doubt and say he wasn't legit trying to defend diddling children, how exactly would society benefit from allowing something that has been shown to severely mess with people well into adulthood to be in any way acceptable or legal? And just a protip for him: If your argument can be misrepresented as "fucking children is something we need to consider" then you need to rewrite that argument immediately, and maybe next time not using your fetlife profile as a basis for your arguments next time yeah? A pretty basic take of “people but expensive art for clout”. Also “modern art bad” which just a over simplified take. Modern art as a category is quite broad and can encompass anything from Piet Mondrian to Van Gogh. The absurd price pieces can be quite dumb (there is all the stuff about money laundering and ect) but acting like realism is the only proper way to do art is very narrow. For instance Picasso tried lots of different art styles from Neo classicism to cubism and to simply say cubism bad because it isn’t traditionally technically impressive is ignoring the point of stylization.

The pricing of art commissions is often calculated by time spent and materials used (when speaking about traditional art) and if the artist in question is popular enough, how many other people are demanding their time. If you want to talk about the price of individual pieces then that can often be based entirely off of the buyer and/or seller's opinion of said piece or if it holds some sort of notoriety (defining work of a famous artist, historically significant, etc.)
He's also following the mantra of 'classical realism is the only true art' which is a bit irksome and just shows that he doesn't spend a lot of time looking at artists beyond the few that pop culture has remembered, which even then isn't much of an excuse because of popular surrealists like Dali and Escher. If you want to make an argument on how modern art is bad that's all well and good, but you can't really do that when talking about something that's almost entirely subjective. It'd be like trying to say a modern rock band sucks ass because The Beatles were good and you think that buying their albums costs too much.

Also, fun little fact: the reason why many talented artists charge very little is often because they live in poorer countries where people make much lower wages and thus they can survive on just a few hundred dollars a month. Same reason why so many companies outsourced their animation to Japan and Korea where it's cheaper. Also part of the reason why there are so many artists who can live off commissions alone who are from poorer countries like Russia, Ukraine, Indonesia, the Phillipines.
