Yeah that's pretty on the nose. First responders deal with a lot of the same issues, and there's worry that habitual caffeine overuse and sleep deprivation impacts public safety. Sleep deprivation mixed with "go pills" (see: methamphetamine) have been cited in the Tarnak Farm incident as the most likely cause for that cluster. The USAF has since discontinued go pills. Just like reporters, fighter pilots aren't inherently stupid, but if you deprive them of sleep while shoveling them stimulants, it can negatively impact cognitive function.
