It's probably because he can't grow a goatee or facial hair. It's a law that I call the "Law of Conservation of Hair". When a man starts balding to the point where it's better to cut it all off, he starts to grow facial hair of some sort. It's like a counter-balance.

I can tell you first hand that the people who love the really obscure and weird films out there are some of the nicest people you will find.

No. Going on about how the meaning of the movie is woven into subtext and how when they're talking about fish they're actually talking about something else and blah blah blah makes you a douchebag like Kyle. Just watching a movie like "The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and her Lover" means you appreciate good cinema. Personally I think the world needs more Helen Mirren but that's just me.

Kyle is the kind guy that thinks he's the smartest person in the room and had a burning desire to tell you this. But he'll never come out and do it instead he'll listen in and then try to take over the conversation and lead it to where he wants so he can show off how brilliant he is.
