TGWTG Kyle Kallgren / Oancitizen / Brows Held High - Afraid of the Eggnog Ninjas, "Male Feminist" that Abuses Women, 2nd-rate Cinema Snob, Hugh Hefner A-Log, Fat Creepy Incel Cuck

Okay, so, I read this thread to make sure that no one else had mentioned this, but Kyle used to date this chick who was a hideous and chubby bipolar person who was into polyamory and lived with her boyfriend while fucking Kyle on the side. She might have also been a gender fluid. She liked to wear fedoras and looked like a dude but she was also obsessed with talking about her own boobs and how large and great they were. I think she eventually broke up with the boyfriend to date Kyle but I could be mistaken. She was also an online film reviewer whose schtick was that she reviewed old Hollywood movies. She used to help Kyle edit his videos and I think she might have also appeared in a couple of them. Basically, she seemed like she was using Kyle as a way to get on TGWTG. I stopped paying attention to them for a while and then, lol and behold, she pops up on TWGTG again, but this time she’s Rap Critic’s girlfriend, appearing in his videos and I think she moved to where he lived so they could live together.

Pretty much. I always found it weird how many romantic relationships there were amongst “cast members”. Most of them don’t live anywhere near each other. They seem like they meet at cons and convince themselves that their desperate drunken sexcapades will lead to functional relationships, because how could that possibly go wrong?

I'll have you know my ex wife was the result of a drunken sexcapade.

holy shit, thats the same chick? i thought she looked vaguely familiar whenever she popped up in rc's video

she definently was in kyles vids, i specifically remember her appearing in a schtick for...the nihilist cowboy or something? it was the tiny furniture review iirc. and providing a "queer perspective" on some lesbian romance drama since kyle is a straight white male (so i dont think they were dating). she always struck me as try hardy and the worst parts of his reviews. shes slightly better with rc, but only because she appears limitedly and has small, quick jokes.

Out of curiosity, is that post still online? I'd like to check it out.
I found the secrets blog and searched for "Rants", and the post didn't come up, so he or someone else probably deleted it at some point. However! The guy who actually wrote/said "I fucking hate Rants" in the video (read: not Kyle) submitted a secret to the blog about the hoopla, and Rants responded. Transcribed here in case the link doesn't work for anyone or w/e:

"I am the guy who both wrote and said the line “I fucking hate Rants." At the time of filming "Shit TGWTG Fans Say” I included that bit on a lark, genuinely believing it would not make it to the final cut. I don’t hate you, Rants. There are things you have done with this site that I have not cared for but that’s as far as it goes. It’s easy to forget how young you (and this fandom) are because I have scarcely any connection with it. I do think that if you are responsible for a site like this you leave yourself open for criticism but I regret that this was the way my concerns came out.

Here’s the thing. Getting older doesn’t mean you’ll never make a mistake. You hope that with age comes the foresight to think before acting, but sometimes you still screw up. That’s part of being human. If I could put the proverbial genie back in the bottle, I would. In lieu of that, I’d much prefer we all just rewind, assume the line was “I fucking hate rants”, lower case “r”, and move on."

"Thank you for coming forward to say something. I have no problem with people having a dislike of me, but when you get down to it, I’m a kid, and an overly sensitive one at that. The TGWTG fandom has been something I’ve loved for years and it’s turned into my “safety” in a way. I looked at the TGWTG people the same way I looked at other celebrities I love; people I would never have contact with, and would admire from afar.

When I got this blog, and it let me talk to one or two producers I thought that was as great as it would get. I can be very mature sometimes, for my age, but I’m still a kid and in a lot of ways I’m still very naive. So when it came out that line was a referance to me? I was shocked, and upset. But as JethroQ* said, this isn’t just about me. It doesn’t just show your dislike of someone random on the web, it shows how you treat the fandom as a whole. Kiss-my-aspergers* said “shooting the messenger is just another way of telling the senders what you REALLY think of them” and I can’t really put it better than that. We may be fans, but we deserve some kind of respect. When you get down to it, we’re all human.

We all make mistakes, me, you, the producers, the people reading this right now. Sometimes those mistakes are far worse than others. And this… Was a pretty big mistake. I suggest we call it even."

*JethroQ and Kiss-My-Aspergers were followers of the Secrets blog who'd sent asks responding directly to the drama, which Rants is referencing here.

I know he didn't mind the Ralph Oancitizen. He did a cameo in Phelous' review of Jeepers Creepers where Lupa called him that. IIRC, It was a bit of an in joke at the time because someone put his birth name as that on IMDB.

Phelous addresses him constantly as Ralph in his cameo in the review of The Pig-Fucking Movie, which I love.

'DON'T YOU TALK ABOUT MY GIRLFRIEND, RALPH!!!'

To be more specific on Kyle's education: He was a theatre major during undergrad, at the start of Brows Held High, then in 2013, he got his M.A. in Film & Video from the American University School of Communication.

While I'm talking about his M.A., now's the time to introduce Election Cycle to the thread. Election Cycle was Kyle's M.A. thesis film, the culmination of his years of film production studies, a requirement for the degree.

"Why should we care about this?", you may ask. Because it's a good example of how, at his root, he's nothing more than a self-serving man-child with a big ego, and I find it funny and pathetic. The major details are:

1. He made a fucking Kickstarter, with a $9,000 goal, to get his fanbase to fund it. I understand the temptation to e-beg, since equipment rental alone costs a huge chunk of change, but $9,000 is way overpriced.
2. Most of this money was meant to go toward making it a SAG production, because he didn't have faith in actors without a SAG membership to "bring the script to life". Because apparently beggers can be choosers now.
3. His fanbase pledged over $16,000, but to my knowledge, nobody got their promised rewards. The rewards, by the way, included arrogant shit like a Twitter shoutout from Kyle, a phone call from Kyle, props and behind-the-scenes junk, and an invitation to the premiere screening (which wouldn't be like a major ceremony, because again, it's a student film).

TL;DR: Kyle Kallgren thought so highly of his thesis film that he turned it into an overpriced spectacle and asked outsiders to fund it, and when they pledged almost twice as much as he asked for he didn't give them so much as a "thanks" in return.

EDIT: I was mistaken, Kyle did give out the Kickstarter rewards. If nothing else, in this Tumblr post, he mentions giving DVDs to his backers.

I didn't realize this was on page 3.

Kyle is in NYC, right? If so, you don't need SAG actors for your shit. There's a lot of SAG people but they will work under a pseudonym. Even there's still a ton of talented actors that aren't SAG.

It's either Kyle thinking his short is something special or it's him money fleecing.

Kyle is a mildly interesting Channel Awesome cow, not being one of the more notably unstable or overdramatic (those of course would be people like Spoony and Linkara) To me he is reminiscent most of Tony Goldmark and Todd in the Shadows due to getting into dumb political stuff on their twitters.

Speaking of which here's some of what I mean by "dumb political stuff"

He's in a relationship with Jourdain Searles, who is generic feminist pop culture critic #34635636

Right down to talking about trolling, connecting it to race and gender like all of them do

Not sure what this tweet was because its gone now but associating with lolcows like Ana Mardoll is not a good sign for Kyle

@LordKaT definitely has more stories about this guy

Kyle reminds me of a loser who still uses blogpost to make his writing relevant.

I watched a few of his videos, but never really enjoyed them despite the interesting aspect behind them, and in hindsight, that might've been because of his smug attitude that permeated the computer screen whenever he was on camera. Because of that, I've always liked it whenever a reviewer showed their annoyance toward him interrupting them (even if it's all in character or not), one of my favorites being when he interrupted Sage's Aeon Flux review to try and "defend it" or something, and got the verbal smack down on gnosticism and how the show didn't portray it well among other things. Bennett looked/sounded like he enjoyed it, and Kyle looked really unhappy filming his segment in which at the end of it all he just silently concedes with wild applause (all while looking like an obese monkey jacking off to his own clapping).

But that's probably also not a good example as the YouTube comments are filled with people sperging that Sage is wrong for having an opinion on the show, but whatever.
