In the Hercules video Lindsay also went and said how all the Disney characters in the 90s had only clumsiness as their flaws ("a whole decade of Bella Swans", she muses), but iirc correctly, only Hercules and maybe Mulan had that problem? I can't recall the other characters being particularly clumsy in such a manner.
This doesn't really matter but since Lindsay tries nowadays so hard to be seen as "the Disney Expert" in the TGWTG circle, it's funny how easily we can debunk anything she says.
Not fully sure what conext Lindsay compared Superman and Rocky to Hercules (and I don't care enough to watch).. But Superman Returns and Rocky III respectively have the titular heroes falling from grace/having to regain former glory. Not necessarily defending Lindsay, but I can see how a comparison could be made.
On a side note, you have to be a special kind of asshole to dislike Brad.
It's a good thing I was never a fan of Oancitizen to begin with, otherwise I'd have to give at least half a fuck about it, and that's half a fuck too many.
He didn't appreciate being the BIG, BLACK DICK version of Brad and being the Diet Coke of Phelous, who himself was the Diet Coke of Brad. He never knew it, but he could never be the Cherry Coke that was Welshy.
Show me where he said itAh, yes, Bennet "Who uses flamethrowers to clear out trenches?" the Sage. Lol.
He doesnt have a receding hairline so much as one in full retreat, Jesus fuck.
Or at least invest in a Dickensian newsie cap. I think he could pull it off. That hairline went from tweenage goofball to slasher villain. If he's so desperate to not go full-on chrome-dome then he should get some hair plugs instead. Do something with it, Goddamn.
Bennett the Sage is pretty good and tries to keep apolitical. I always think Bennett would make a good standup comic. Brad, Lupa and Phelous are okay as long as they dont get triggered (Lorne Kates can fuck off through).
The Baywatch and Charmed videos are filled with borderline bitchy comments about the women as well.I thought Lupa was cool. Then I followed her on Twitter and saw her tweets.
Kickassia was what broke the most of my friends out of their Channel Autism phase. What I realize the most about Channel Awesome is that Kickassia was the most stupidest thing and also the best thing that could ever happen to all of the fans. It destroyed the illusion that these guys were badasses, they were fucking 20-40 year olds making a shit movie all together and I think that was the actual thing about the movie that was supposed to be the big point. But the CA team fucked it up by taking in the prideful naive internet kids and this is where it all leads at the end of the day.
I never liked Channel Awesome, mainly because TVTropes shoves that shit down your throat so hard that it's impossible to get away from. Also, when Channel Awesome was in its heyday, I wasn't much of a movie lover as I am right now. Thankfully, I went with RedLetterMedia, because at least they aren't autistic and they are self aware.Kickassia was what broke the most of my friends out of their Channel Autism phase.
They weren't making a shitty movie intentionally because they could and having fun with it like the Red Letter Media guys did with Space Cop.
No, most of the CA folks had zero self-awareness and legitimately thought they were making some sort of brilliant comedic work of art that would make their careers take off.
My friends all realized that without already lulzy material to play off of (The stuff they 'reviewed'), all of the CA folks were just cringy, awkward wannabe-actors shouting in-jokes, catchphrases, and old memes. They were just a sad bunch of delusional adults trying too hard to be funny.
Pretty much this in a nutshell.Dress up in a crap cosplay and scream a lot. LARPers do that for shits 'n' giggles. Doug and his sorry crew regard it as a brilliant career move.
