Are people outside of Australia/NZ familiar with these?

They're quite simple - vanilla/sponge cake (yellow cake to Americans I think?) cubed and rolled in chocolate icing and then coconut.

When they're made with love, they're soft, fluffy and coconutty.

You need a Lamington in your life, trust me.

I've never heard of that in the US, but look at our population; there's no way a form of cake exists that people here aren't eating.

They are supposedly named after 'Lord Lamington', a colonial-era governor in Aus -
So it fits.
